- SPRING BEDBOTTOM- To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that we, JOSEPH T'rH, AM- BnosiUS BELEZNAY, and JOHN LIPTAK, subjects of the King of Austria-Hungary, residing at Pittsburg, in the county of -Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Spring Bed-Bottoms, of which the following is a specification, referencebe'ing had therein to the accompanying drawing.

This invention relates to sprlng bed bot-V tom, and the object of our invention is to provide a removable spring bed bottom consisting of two sections hinged whereby the Sections can be folded to occupy a comparaivaely small space when removed from'the We attain the above object by providing a Spring structure that can be yieldably mounted in the trarne of a bed to sustain considerable weight, the spring being preferably made of light and durable metal with the parts thereof assembled to provide -a simple and inexpensive construction.

Our invention will be hereinafter considered in detail and then claimed, and reference willnow be had to the drawings form- 'ing part ,og this specification, wherein there is illustra ed a preferred yembodiment of the invention, but it is to be understood that the structuralelements thereof can be varied or changed, as to the size, shape and manner of `assemblage without departing from. the spirit and scope of the invention.

In the drawings Fignre 1 is a side elevation of a bed provided with a spring bed bottom in accordance with .this invention. Fig. 2 is a plan of the same, Fig. 3 is an end view of the spring bed bottom, and Fig. 4 is an enlarged longitudinal sectional view ofv one of the spring units, and Fig. 5 is a cross sectional view of the same.

A spring bed bottom constructed in accordance with our invention comprises two rectangular sections A and B, each section comprising super-imposed frames and each frame havin longitudinal slats 1 and 2, and transverse s ats 3. The longitudinal slats 1 are of a greater length than the longitudinal slats 2, and the lower slats 1 are hin ed or pivotally connected, as at 4, whereby t e sections can be folded together. Besides yieldably support-ing the u per frames of the sections A and B relative y to the lower frames thereof, we provide-addiltional means for yieldably supporting Vthe spring relatively to the post 12 .of a bed. The outer ends of the lower frames of the sections A 'and B are connected by coiled v springs 13 to the post 12, theV springsy 13 being anchored at a point above the bed spring, as at 14, the said springs 13 cushioning the downward movement of the entire bed spring. Having now described our invention what we claim as new, is'z- 1.
