Description
A. VANDERVELD. I DETAGHABLE FASTENING FOR GARMENT SUPPORTS.
APPLICATION FILED MAR. 17,1910.
Patented Oct. 4, 1910.
HNTH ON'Y' s/IHNDEEVELD ATEI IT @FFIfiE ANTHONY VANDERVELD, OF GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN, ASSIGNOR TO GRAND RAPIDS SHOW CASE COMPANY, OF GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN, A CORPORATION OF MICHIGAN.
DETACI-IABLE FASTENING FOR GARMENT-SUPPORTS.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ANTHONY VANDER- VELD, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Grand Rapids, in the county of Kent and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Detachable Fastenings for Garment-Supports; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will en able others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to improvements in detachable fastenings for garment supports, and its object is to provide a secure fastening means whereby a garment support may be detachably secured in a wardrobe, and to provide the same with various new and use ful features, hereinafter more fully described and particularly pointed out in the claims.
My device consists essentially of a bracket and swinging hooks adapted to be secured ing members on the garment support adapt ed to engage the said bracket and hooks and detachably hold the support in place in the wardrobe, as will more fully appear by reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure 1 is a side elevation of a device embodying my invention with parts broken away; Fig. 2 a detail in plan view of the rear fastening; Fig. 3 a transverse section on the line 33 showing the front fastening in elevation viewed from within the case; Fig. 4 a detail in side elevation of the rear fastening with the garment support detached; and, Fig. 5 the same of the front fastening.
Like numbers refer to like parts in all of the figures.
1 represents a portion of the rear Wall of a wardrobe; 2 the same of the front of the wardrobe above the door opening.
3 is the stationary member of a garment support of any convenient construction, the particular form shown being no part of my invention.
4 represents outwardly projecting lugs on the sides of the member 3 near the rear end thereof. 5 are pins on the respective sides of the same near the front end thereof.
6 is a bracket adapted to be attached to Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed March 17, 1910.
within a wardrobe, and outwardly project Patented Oct. 4, 1910. Serial No. 550,061.
the rear wall of the case and having forwardly projecting arms adapted to embrace the rear end of the garment support and engage the lugs 4. These arms are recessed to receive the said lugs, and the inwardly projecting ends have upwardly projecting hooks 7 to prevent the lugs 4t from sliding off the bracket.
8 are forwardly projecting portions above the lugs 4 to hold the same from rising off the bracket. These portions project a less distance than the hooks 7, and thus permit the lugs 8 to enter therebetween.
9 is a forward bracket attached to the inner side of the front portion 2 of the case and having inwardly projecting flanges to embrace the forward end of the garment support. Through these flanges extends a pivot pin 15 on which is pivoted hooks 10 which swing inward and upward and engage the pins 5 on the garment support. The flanges 9 extend downward in front of these pins when the same are in the hooks as at 14:, and thus prevent the garment support from moving forward, unless the hooks are detached.
11 is a recess near the point of each hook to receive a pin 5 and carry the same under the projection 14.
13 is a lug on the flange 9 which extends outward therefrom and engages a shoulder 12 on the hook to hold the same from swinging outward beyond the proper distance to receive the pins 5 in the recess 11.
From the foregoing the operation of the device will be readily understood without further description.
What I claim is 1. A detachable fastening for a garment support, comprising outwardly projecting members on the respective ends of said support, a fixed bracket to receive the members on one end of the support, and swinging hooks to receive the members on the other end of the support.
2. A detachable fastening for a garment support, comprising lugs-on one end of the same, a bracket to embrace the support and engage the lugs, pins on the other end of the support, and hooks to embrace the support and engage the pins.
A detachable fastening for a garment support, comprising lugs on the rear end of the support, a b acket having arms to embrace the support and engage the lugs, pins on the front of the support, a bracket, hooks on the bracket to receive the pins, and downward extensions on the .bracket to engage the pins when the same are in the hooks.
a. A detachable fastening for garment supports, comprising a bracket adapted to be secured in a wardrobe, and having downwardly extended flanges to embrace a garment support, and hooks pivoted to the flanges and adapted to hold pins opposite the downward extensions of the flanges.
5. A detachable fastening for garment supports, comprising pins on the support, a bracket having flanges to embrace the support and extended downward to engage and hold the pins, and hooks pivoted to the bracket and adapted to hold the pins opposite the extensions of the flanges, said hooks also having recesses adapted to receive the pins and carry the same under the said downward extensions.
6. A detachable fastener for garment supports, comprising outwardly projecting lugs on the support, a bracket having arms to engage the lugs and provided with hooks at their ends, and forwardly projecting portions on the bracket above the lugs and shorter than the arms.
7. A detachable fastening for garment supports, comprising outwardly projecting lugs on the rear of the support, outwardly projecting pins on the front of the support, rear bracket-s having arms to engage and support the lugs and forwardly projecting portions above the lugs, a forward bracket having flanges extended downward to embrace the support, and hooks pivoted to the flanges adapted to hold the pins opposite said downward extensions, said hooks also having recesses to receive the pins and carry the same beneath the flanges.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
