KEY-TURNER FOR ELECTRIC LIGHTS.
Specification of Letters Patent.

Application filed February 6, 1909. Serial No. 476,461.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, BURT ENGLISH, a citizen of the United States, residing at Fort Des Moines, in the county of Polk and State of Iowa, have invented certain new and use ful Improvements in Key-Turners for Electric Lights, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a key-operating attachment adapted to be used in connection with electric lights, the object being to make the light-controlling key or button of an electric light not positioned in convenient reach of an operator, readily accessible.
A. further object is to provide a light, ornamental device, contrived so that the same may be conveniently secured to the key or operating button of an electric light, in such a manner that when desired the attachment may be removed and secured to some other fixture.
Other objects and advantages will be apparent from the following description and it will be understood that changes in the specific structure shown and described may be made within the scope of the claim without departing from the spirit of the invention.
In the drawings forming a portion of this specification, and in which like numerals of reference indicate similar parts in the several views, Figure 1 shows a front view of my device attached to an electric light key or button, Fig. 2 is a rear View of my attachment, Fig. 3 is a top view thereof, Fig. 4: is a sectional view through one of the arms.
In carrying out the aim of my invention, I construct a closed sheet metal collar forming holder 6 of a size and conformation to tightly slide and fit over the key or button 5, of an electric light 6.
Extending from and forming a part of the holder 6 are the two similar dished arms 7, these arms decreasing in width toward their ends, and each ending in a tubular termination 8.
As shown the two arms extend from opposite edges of the holder 6, the tubular terminations being curved in a direction opposite to the holder 6. Held between the arms 7 are two clenching ears 8 which are arranged to be bent over the button 5 as disclosed.
To impart rigidity to the arms 7, I provide the holder 6 with the two similar triangularly-shaped webs 10, which act as braces in securing the arms to the holder. These arms 7 in order to add to their ornamental appearance as well as to their strength, are dished as shown in Fig. 4, and held within the tubular terminations 8 of each arm is the knotted end of an operating strand 12 provided at its lower end with a suitable ring 14. These strands are made of any suitable length.
In securing this attachment to the button or key of an electric light, the holder 6 is slipped over the key 5 when the ears 8 are clenched over the end of the key as disclosed. By this means a light and sightly device is provided enabling an operator to conveniently actuate the key of an electric light. The holder may be made of any suitable material but I prefer to make the same of sheet brass.
And having thus described my said invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by United States Letters Patent is:
A device of the character described, comprising a closed oblong collar for coaction with an electric light button having two arms extending in opposite direction, each arm having a middle lengthwise positioned integral outwardly stamped web, having one end forming part of said collar, each arm ending in a tubular sleeve, a clenching ear extending from each end of said oblong collar to engage an electric light button, and an operating strand within each sleeve, all arranged substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
