IMPROVED SHOW-COUNTER.

The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.

I, AARON BEARDSLEY, of Mount Zion, in the county of Van Buren, and State of Iowa, have invented a certain Show-Counter, of which the following is a specification.

My invention is an improvement in store or shopcounters; and consists in providing one or more gauzecovered apertures in the front portion, to allow one outside to see articles exposed for sale in drawers o1" lockers within the counter.

Figure 1 is aperspective view of a counter, embodying my invention.

Figure 2 is a transverse section through one of the apertures, and through a corresponding locker and bin.

Figure 3 is a transverse section through another of the apertures, and through a corresponding sliding drawer.

Figure 4 is a rear view of a portion of the couutertop, with'a sliding draw in position.

1) are apertures in the front, guarded with wire gauze E, or other material that will allow visual inspection without handling the articles exposed for sale or sample within the counter.

The interior of the counter, behind each aperture, is provided with a receptacle for the articles of sale, which receptacle may be fixed or movable.

In fig. 2 is shown one form of receptacle, consisting of a locker, F, having a floor, G, which slopes toward the front, and may be fixed or may occupy slides g, as represented, so as to be capable of withdrawal when it may be desired to dump the contents into a bin, H, or other receptacle placed below it. Or there may be placed behind the aperture a drawer, I, supported and sliding on cleats J depending from the counter-top.

A glass pane, K, in the front or inner end of the drawer or locker may serve tokeep out dust while permitting inspection of the goods.

The locker F may hold samples of the goods in the bin below it.

The glass panes or lights may be secured to the counter-apertures immediately behind, or in place of the wire guards.

The bin H may be mounted on wheels in the manner represented.

I claim, as my invention- The store-counter, constructed substantially as herein described, with apertures 1), through which articles placed in suitable receptacles under or within the counter may be viewed, as set forth.
