FLY-PAPER HOLDER.

To all whom if may concern:

Be it known that I, EMMA NICKUM, a citizen of the United States, residing at Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Fly- Paper I-Iolders, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to improvements in fly paper holders, the object of the invention being to provide a device of this character which will not only prevent articles carelessly placed on the device from touching the fly paper, but which will prevent the fly paper touching an object even though the holder is overturned.

A further object is to provide an improved device of this character of extremely, simple, inexpensive construction, neat and attractive in appearance, and strong and durable in use.

1With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction, and combinations and arrangements of parts as will be more fully hereinafter described and pointed out in the claims.

In the accompanying drawings: Figure 1, is a perspective view illustrating my improvements. Fig. 2, is an enlarged view in section, illustrating the spring clamp. Fig. 3, is a similar view, showing one of the permanent hooks. Fig. 4, is a view in longitudinal section, and Fig. 5, is a view in cross section.

1, represents a tray which is preferably of rectangular form, having a groove or depression 2, in its upper face of the same general outline as the tray, but inward from the edge thereof. The fly paper 3, is to be supported on the tray inside of the depression or groove 2, and in this depression or groove, the rectangular base 4, of my improved frame is located, and is removably secured at one side by hooks 5, permanently secured to the tray by rivets 6, and at the other side by spring pressed pivoted hook 7. The frame may be inserted under the fixed hooks 5, and then caught by the spring hook 7, to rigidly hold it on the tray.

wardly projecting posts 10, are provided, having eyes 11, at their upper ends. It will be noted that the posts 8, at opposite ends, are in alinement, and the posts 10, at opposite sides are in alinement, and furthermore that the posts 10, are appreciably longer or higher than the posts 8.

12, represents a wire or cord which is secured to one post S, then carried back and forth longitudinally of the device, through the eyes 9, of posts 8, and thence transversely back and forth through the eyes 11, of posts 10, to form two series of runs of the cord or wire, in different vertical planes. The purpose of the transverse runs of the wire between the posts 10, is to prevent an object being placed on the fly paper, the longitudinal runs between posts 8, also aiding in this function, but the principal function of the longitudinal runs of the wire in the posts 8, is to catch the fly paper when the tray is overturned, so as to prevent it from contacting with the floor or an obj ect below, as the device when upside down, will be supported on posts 10, and the fly paper on the longitudinal runs of wire 12.

Various slight changes might be made in the general form and arrangement of parts described without departing from my invention, and hence I do not limit myself to the precise details set forth, but consider myself at liberty to make such changes and alterations as fairly fall within the spirit and scope of the appended claims.

Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. In a device of the character described, the combination with a tray adapted to support fly paper, of a frame removably secured on said tray, and of rectangular form, a plurality of alined posts on the sides and ends of said frame, the side posts and the end posts of appreciably diEerent lengths, and devices connecting the side posts and the end posts, whereby two elevations of connecting devices are provided, substantially as described.

2.
