To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, CHESTER F. KROM, a citizen of the United States, residing at St. Petersburg, in the county of Hillsboro and State of Florida, have invented new and useful Improvements in Display-Cabinets, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to improvements in display cabinets for ribbons or the like, and the object of the invention is to provide a device of this character comprising a plu rality of compartments each normally closed through the medium of a suitable plate having its outer face provided with means whereby the ribbon or other article within the compartment is displayed and which 1s also provided with a suitable rectangularframe between the sides of which is pivoted a reel containing the ribbon or other article and the said frame being mounted in suitable ways whereby the frame may be readily and quickly partially withdrawn from or positioned within the cabinet.

With the above, and other objects in view, which will appear as the description progresses, the invention resides in the novel construction and combination of elements hereinafter fully described and claimed.

In the accompanying drawin there has been illustrated a simple and preferred form of the device, and in which,

Figure 1 is a front elevation of the same, one of the frames being withdrawn so as to allow the ribbon or lace to be unwound from the reel. Fig. 2 is a partial side elevation of the cabinet, parts being broken away and showing one of the frames partly withdrawn to provide for the unwinding from the reel carried by the frame. Fig. 3 is a horizontal sectional view taken through one of the compartments with the frame in position therein.

In the accompanying drawings the numeral 1 designates a cabinet of any suitable or preferred design and being provided with a plurality of compartments 2. The compartments 2 are each normally closed through the medium of a suitable plate 3 to which is secured a substantially rectangular frame 4. The frame 4 is preferably constructed of wire of a suitable gage and the compartment 2 has its side walls provided with spaced cleats 5 adapted to form wayswithin which the sides of the frame 4 are adapted to travel. Centrally and pivotally connected with the side arms of the frame 4:

is a reel 6 which may be constructed of wood or metal as desired and which is provided with a suitable handle 7 whereby the same may be readily rotated upon the side arms of frame. The plates 3 are each provided with suitable metallic members 8 of a substantially rectangular formation and having open faces. The members 8 are each adapted for the reception of a sample of the material which is wound upon the reel 6, and it will be noted that as the frame 4 is withdrawn from the cabinet a suitable distance, the material upon the reel 6 may be readily unwound therefrom through the medium of the handle 7, thus obviating the necessity of removing the reel from the frame or in anyway handling the said reel.

In the preferred form of the structure, the frame 4 comprises a pair of members 8 and 9 each having their side arms bent inwardly a suitable distance adjacent their pivotal connecting point so as to project beyond the cleats 5v of the compartment 2.

The connecting pintle of the members 8 and 9 also serve as trunnions for the reel 6 and the pintle upon one side of the reel is extended a suitable distance and arranged in a line with the offset members of the frame to provide the handle 7. It will be noted that the offset portion of the handle 7 is adapted to lie between the cleats 5 so as to entirely prevent the rotation of the reel when the frame is inserted within the compartment. It is to be understood that the rear member 9 of the frame 4 is constructed of some suitable resilient material and its side arms are adapted to exert outward pres sure against the sides of the compartment 2 and this frictional engagement is adapted to serve as a means for retaining the rear portion of the frame into engagement with the sides of the compartment when the said frame is withdrawn. In this instance, when the frame 1 is partially withdrawn from the compartment 2 the forward end 8 of the frame, together with the plate 3, will drop downwardly upon its pivots as clearly shown in Figs. 1 and 2 of the drawings and the reel may be readily unwound through the me dium of the handle 7.

Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is 1. A compartment, spaced cleats upon the sides of the compartment, a plate for the open face of the compartment, a substantially rectangular frame constructed of wire secured to the plate and positioned between 'the cleats in the compartment, a pivoted reel connected with the side arms of the frame, and a handle for the reel adapted to be positioned between the cleats of the compartment when the frame is positioned within the compartment.

2. A cabinet provided with a compartment, longitudinally extending spaced cleats forming ways within the compartment, a

a rectangular frame constructed of a air of sections pivotally connected together and secured to the plate, a reel secured to the pivots of the frame members, an ofiset handle member for the reel, and the sides, of the frame and the handle of the reel adapted to be positioned within the ways of thecom- 1 partment when the frame is positioned with- Q in the compartment.

3. A cabinet provided with a compartset handle portion adapted to be positioned within one of the ways of the compartment whenthe frame is in position within the compartment substantially as described.
