To all whom# may concern:

Bel it known that I, JOSEPH H. C. DE FORGE, a-citizen of the United States, residing at Lynn, in the county of -Essex and State of Massachusetts, have invented new and useful Improvements in Garments, of which the following is a speciiication.

i This invention relates to improvements in garments and more particularly to shirts,

collars and cutis and means for detachably connecting collars and ends to shirts.

The object Aof my invention is primarily to provide simple, convenient and neat ap- .ing

caring devices for detachably attaching colars and cuffs to shirts in a secure manner so that accidental disconnection shall be impossible. f

It will beunderstood that the tab 22 is wholly invisible from the exterior of the cuff after the cuil has been 4'applied and con` sequent-ly the combined cuil and shirt sleeve have very much the appearance of a culi .and shirt sleeve in whichthe cuit is permanently attached to the shirt sleeve by sewing thereto in L4a well known manner. By extending the tab through the second slit not only is its attachment thereby rendered far more secure thanif a single slit were provided, but the free end of the tab does not vnecessarily come in contact with the wearer when in use, but the thickness ofthe cuff is interposed thereby makingthe cuff very comfortable-towear.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire by Letters Patent to secure is:

1 A garment having, in combination, two parts adapted to surround a portion of the body of the wearer, one of said parts being provided' with two slits extending entirely therethrough, and a tab secured to the other of said parts extending through one of said slits, thence along the surface and through the other of said slits.
