The present application isin the nature of a division of co-pending application,` Serial No. 410,980 tiled simultaneouslyherewith. No broad claims are made in this application to the particular type of structure, inasmuch as said claims are contained in the application above identified.
rlhe primary object of the present invention is to provide novel and simple means for permitting the ready adjustment of gage stops upon their supports, without the necessity of completely dismembering the structures, the stops being independently detachable and attachable and having means for preventing their accidental displacement from the support.
A further and important object is to provide securing means that also yieldingly holds the stops in active relation, thus permitting their movement to an inoperative position by the material that is being gaged.

Fig. 5 is a detail perspective view of a portion of the supporting structure. Fig. G is a view similar to Fig. 3, but illustrating a modified form of construction. Fig. `7 shows the structure illustrated in Fig. 3 with one` of the elements removed. Fig. S is a cross sectional view through another embodiment of the invention. Fig. 9 is a view similar' to Fig. 8, but showing the holding latch swung to an inoperative position. Fig. 10 is a side elevation of the structure shown in Fig. S. Figs. 11 and 12 illustrate another embodiment of the invention, with the retaining means respectively in inoperative and operative positions.

Referring first to the embodiment diswhich closed in Figs. l-linclusive, the saw table 13 may be` of any desired character, and the saw 1-1 cooperating with said table, may be of ,any suitable type. Mounted on the table is a supporting structure comprising a base 15 have an upstanding flange 16. The base and flange are slotted, asillustrated at 17, and these slots terminate short of the upper edge of the ange, forming a transverse pivot support 18. The gage stops 19 are in the form of flat plates, which operate in the slots 17, and are provided at their upper yends with open sided seats or slots 19a that receive the pivot 18, said gage stops thus swinging on the pivot. .Each open side is normally closed `by the curved lportieri 20 of an arm 21 that is pivoted, as illustrated at 22 to the upper end of the gage stop, and has its lower end weighted, `as illustrated at 23. The arm, as shown in Fig. 3, is offsetfrom the gage stop, and thusthe weight not only serves to maintain the sea-t 19 closed, but alsoserves to yieldingly main- `tain the gage stop in the` angle formed by the base 15 and flange 1G. `With this structure, it will be evident that any gage stop may be removed from or attached to any portion of the pivot support, and when in position, the open side of the seat for the pivot is closed, the weighted arm therefore constituting not only a closure, but `means for holding the lstop in active position.
A, modified form of construction is illustrated in Figs. 6 and 7. In this embodiment, the base 24, has an `upstanding flange 25. The said base kand flange are slotted, as illustrated at 26. Each of the gage stops 27 is provided in its upper portion with `an `open sided seat or slot, the inner portion Q8 of lwhich is enlarged, a contracted open mouth 29 being formed. This mouth is held by the upper end 30 `of an arm 31 `having a weight 32 at its lower end. The portion 30 of said arm is maintained in the mouth 29 by a suitable screw or other fastener 33. It will be evident thatI in this structure, the weighted arm 31 not only constitutes a closure for the mouth 29, but also acts as a means for yieldingly main'- taining the stop in its active position.
A simpler form of the invention is shown in Figs. S, 9 and 10. In this embodiment, the pivot. support, is designated 84, and is provided with spaced collars 35, between the gage stops 36 are placed. Each rarement May ilo, i-eio.

Still another embodiment is disclosed in l Figs. ll and l2. In this form of construction, the pivot is designated 42 and the gage stop 43 has an open sided seat or slot 44 that receives the same. A closure, in the form of a block 43 is arranged to be slipped into the open end of the slot or seat 44, and is provided with connecting tongues 4G engaging in sockets 47 formed in the opposite sides of the slot. When the block is in position, it constitutes a closure for the open end of the slot or seat, the tongues engaging in the sockets 47. In this connection, it is to be noted that the block 45 has recesses to permit the tongues 4G to pass into the slot 44 and spring into the sockets 47.
From the foregoing, it is thought that the construction operation and many advan tages of the herein described invention Will be apparent to those skilled in the art, and it Will be understood that various changes in the size, shape, proportion and minor details of construction may be resorted to Without departing from the spirit or sacriiicing any of the advantages of the invention.
Having thus fully described my invention, What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
l. In a gage of the character set forth, the combination with a fixed pivot support, of a gage stop having an open ended seat to receive the same and thereby supported for oscillatory movement and presented in projecting' relation with the Work, and means pivotally mounted on the gage stop for closing the seat to retain the stop on the pivot support.
2. In a gage of the character set forth, the combination with a fixed pivot support having its cross section presenting two unequal diameters, of a gage stop having a seat of a size to receive the greatest diameter of the pivot and provided With a contracted open mouth, a closure for the mouth mounted on the gage stop and having a Weighted arm, said mouth permitting the removal of the l stop from the pivot support transversely thereof by the removal of the closure.
3. In a gage of the character set forth, the combination With a pivot support, of ay gage stop pivotally and detaehably mounted thereon, and common means for preventing the detachment of the stop and for yieldingly maintaining it in a predetermined position.
4. In a gage of the character set forth, the combination with a pivot support, of a gage stop having an open ended seat that pivotally receives the support, and a weighted arm that closes the open end of the seat. and yieldingly maintains the stop in a predetermined position.
5. In a gage of the character set forth, the combination with a base, of a pivot support associated therewith said base having a slot. of a gage stop pivotally mounted on the support and having an open ended seat that receives the pivot support, the free portion of said stop operating in the slot, anda Weighted arm pivoted to the gage stop and closing the open side of the seat, said arm being offset from the gage stop.
6. In a gage of the character set forth, the combination of a base provided with a slot and supporting a pivot, ay stop mounted on the pivot and movable in the slot and held thereby from lateral movement and having an open-ended seat to receive the pivot, and Weighted means for closing the seat and permitting a pivotal movement of the stop.
7. In a gage of the character set iorth, the combination of a base provided with a slot and supporting a pivot, a stop mounted on the pivot and movable in the slot and held thereby from lateral movement and having an open-ended seat to receive the pivot, and means for closing the seat, said means permitting a pivotal movement of the stop and including a weighted arm or member for maintaining the stop in a project-ing position with relation to the support.
