The Schedule referred to in than Letten Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRED. T. ANGERS, of Ganastota, in the county lof Madison, and State of New York, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in Oars for Sculling or Rowing; and I do hereby declare that the -following is ali'ull, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, makingA a part of this specification, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.
Figure 1, of the drawings, is a representation of a longitudinal cent-ral section ofthe sculling-oarl Figure-2 is an enlarged bottom view of pin E and adjacent parts.

My invention relates to means for propelling skifts and row-boats; and
It consists mainly in the construction andA novel arrangement of a scullingoar, which may be used either to scull or steer-t le boat, at the opelators will.
The letter A, ofthe drawings, represents the wooden handle of my oar, and Letter B, the metallic blade thereof.
The letter C represents a metallic rotl,"rigidly attached at one end to the oar-blade', and fitted -in a groovein the handle thereof. It is held in the groove by means of the band a and the staple c.
The staple c is a bent plate, that is arranged upon the handle, inthe manner shown, and has a slot, n, in which the small armoof the rod .is placed, for the purpose hereinafter mentioned.

A scnlling-oar, having grooved handle A, blade B, -rod O, `plate D, and staple o, constructed and arranged substantially as shown and described.
