IMPROVED cAn-coUPLING.
The schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom it may concern Be it known. that we, Cnnvmdi. Dnxsmme and JACOB A. VROOMAN, of Oil City, in the county of Venango, and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and improved Car-Coupling and we dohereby declare that the following is a full and exact description of the same, reference being had to the ac-. companyiug drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
Figure 1 represents our invention, as it appear-sattached to two separate cars, not coupled.
B 0 are two metal draw-heads, made not unlike the common draw-head, bnly that they are somewhat larger, or more like a box.
H A is a hook, through which the coupling-pin D passes, (fig. 1.)
Figure 2 represents this hook detached from the coupling.
F F are two steel springs, bolted on the sides of the hook. These springs, resting on the inner sides of the draw-head C, serve to keep the hook H A in the proper position for self-coupling.
