Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Apr. 5, itlllilt Application filed April 7, 1908. Serial No. 488,398.
To all 'whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Jonx M. PULEY, a citizen of the United States, and resident of Cleveland. in the county of Guyahoga and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Folding Boxes, of which I hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it;- appertains to make and use the same.
The objects of the invention are to provide a collapsible box suitable for use by tailors. t'lepartment stores. laundrwunen, and others who require the use of a large number of light and serviceable boxes, and who therefore prefer to use a form of collapsible box which can be stored in flat sheets until needed when they can quickly be put into shape.
The box is also arranged to be self securing and when folded upon predetermined lines forms an integral box and cover, with interlockingparts, and hence seldom requires the use of a string to secure the cover in place.
The invention has reference also to a holding device whereby the box vcan be easily carried in one hand, and the engaging parts he in no danger of separating.
To accomplish these objects the box is cutj from one integral sheet, in which the lines for folding are marked or deeply scored so that any one can make up the boxes, as they are required.
The invention consists in the combination and arrangement. of the various parts, as hereinafter tleseribed, shown in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is a perspective view of the box, in a partially open position, showing the manner of combining the interlocking parts; Fig. 2 is a plan view of the extex'ided sheet from which the box is to be formed, showing the lines upon which the folds are made.
In these Views 1 is the bottom portion and 2 is the cover, 3 is the rear side portion which connects the bottom and cover. -'t is the front side or flap ot' thebottom portion and 5 is the front side of the cover, (3, (3 are the end portions of the bottom and 7, 7 are the end portions of the cover.
The front side ends of the bottom portion are separated from each other and from the tion being free at their adjacent edge:

The flat sheet, shown in Fig. 2 is scored on lines 9, 9, parallel to its edges, for ready folding to form the end and side walls.

Having described the invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
