HITCH-STRAP.

Specification of Letters Patent.

Be it known that I RALPH linnmiir a citizen of the United States, residing ati Kansas City, in the county of Jackson and State of Missouri, have invented certain new and use'l'ul In'iprovements in IAIitch-Straps; and I do declare the following to be a tull, clear, and exact description olf the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the figures ot ret erence marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

My invention relates to hitch straps and more particularly to a device of that class comprising a neck band having an extension adapted for attachment to a bridle bit ring, and a hitch strap connected with such parts and adapted for attachment to a suitable post.

It is the principal object oi my invent-ion to provide a hitch strap which may be suitably connected with a neck band or the like and is so constructed and arranged that it may be secured to a hitching post in a manner to prevent its slipping thereon.

A further object is to provide the improved details of structure presently de scribed and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in Which Figure I is a view of my improved hitch strap, showing the manner of Vattaching same to a post, and its combination with a neck band and bit strap. Fig. II is a detail view ot' same. Fig. III is a Vview of a modified form ol" hitch strap, showing the link provided with a snap hook instead ot' connected with a neck band.

Referring more in detail to the parts z- 1 designates a neck band, one end of which is provided with a ring 2, and the other with a snap hook 3, either the ring or hook, preierably the latter, being secured to such band by a billet and buckle 4 to provide for adjustment on different animals.

Suitably mounted on the band l, preferably by looping same through the ring 2, is a strap 5, having a snap hook 6 on its free end for connection with the bit ring 7 of an ordinary bridle, strap 5 being preferably provided with a billet and buckle S b y which its length may be adjusted when desired. Also connected with the neck band l, preferably by means of a ring 9, which is adapted Yfor revoluble movement in its strap mounting but not 'for sliding movement on the band, is a hitching strap link l0.

Secured to the end oi link 10, preferably by means et loop ll and ring l2, is a tie strap 13, the strap being connected with the ring at a point between its ends, the loose ends being respectively provided with the buckle lil and perforations 15.

IVhile I prefer to attach the hitch strap to a neck band, as shown in the principal views of the drawing, it is readily apparent that it may be provided with a snap hook adapted for attachment directly to a bit ring.

In the use of the device, in combination with the neck band and bit strap, the neck band is placed about the animals neck and the hook 3 connected with the ring 2, as shown, the bit strap being extended to the bit ring 7 and connected therewith by the snap 6. The hitch strap is then extended to the bitching post and the tie strap extended around and tightly buckled thereto, as illustrated in Fig. I, the strap being led around the post one or more times according to the size ot' the post and length of the tie strap. Then the tie strap is so secured to the post, it will not slip down or become loosened, as commonly occurs when the strap is knotted on the post.

In combining the link 10 and tie straps by means of the ring 12 and providing the ring connections for the other parts, a free movement oi' the parts relative to each other is secured, that obviates twisting the strap and discomfort to the animal to which it is applied.
