SUPPORT FOR BREAST-STRAPE$ To all whom it may concern.

Be it known that l, FRANK JV. LINDQUJS'II, a. citizen of the United States, residing at \Vinthrop, in the county of Sibley and State of Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Supports for Breast-Straps of Harness; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will en able others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to improvements in supports for the breast straps of harness.

One object of the invention is to provide supports for breast straps adapted to be used on draft animals having sore necks from the chafing of the collar or other causes, comprising supporting straps arranged in such manner as to support the breast strap without coming into contact with or irritating the sore place upon the animals neck.

Another object is to provide a breast strap with adjustable supporting straps and adjustable means for holding or spacing the upper portion of said straps apart.

With these and other objects in view, the invention consists of the improved construction, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter fully described and afterward particularly pointed out in the appended claims.

fly invention is designed to support a breast strap 1, which may be of the usual or any suitable construction and to the inner ends of which are connected buckles 2 to which the outer ends of the traces are connected. To the rear ends of the strap 1 are also secured eyes or loops 3 to which are connected the lower ends of a rear supporting strap t having its ends doubled upon themselves and provided with suitable buckles 5, whereby the strap may be readily adjusted to different lengths. One end of the strap 4 may be provided with a snap hook 6 whereby said end may be quickly and easily detached from its loop 3.

strap 1 are secured eyes or loops 7 to which are connected the lower ends of a front supporting strap 8 having its ends doubled upon themselves and provided with buckles 9, whereby the strap may be adjusted to the desired length. One end of the strap 8 may be provided with a snap hook 10, whereby said end may be readily disconnected from its eye or loop to permit its quick removal. The front supporting strap 8 may be provided with suitable guide rings 11 to receive and support the lines of the harness.

Holding straps 12, the upper ends of which are secured to the opposite sides of the rear supporting strap have their lower ends doubled upon themselves and provided with buckles 13 thus forming adjustable loops which are engaged with rings 1 L secured to the breast strap 1, as shown. The straps 12 are provided to adjust and hold the rear supporting strap to prevent it from slipping back on the animal, thereby also holding the front strap so that it cannot slip back into contact with sore places on the animals neck.

The front and rear supporting straps are spaced apart by a. longitudinally disposed spacing bar 15 curved upwardly between its ends and pivotally connected at its rear end to the rear strap 4- and at. its forward end adjustably connected to the front supporting strap preferably by a thumb screw 16 inserted through the central portion 17 of the strap and. threaded into one of a series of screw holes 18 formed in the forward end of the spacing bar. By thus arranging the spacing bar, the supporting straps are spaced at a suitable distance apart to prevent either of them coming into contact with the sore place on the animals neck caused by the chafing of a hame collar or from other causes. The supporting straps 4 and 8 are preferably provided with pads or saddles 19 where they engage the neck and shoulders of the animal.

From the foregoing description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, the construction and operation of the invention will be readily understood without requiring a more extended explanation.

Various changes in the form, proportion and the minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the principle or sacrificing any of the advantages of this invention as defined in the appended claims.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim is:

1. A support for a breast strap comprising adjustable front and rear supporting straps connected at their lower ends with the breast strap, a spacing bar pivetally connected at one end to one of said supporting straps, said bar having in its opposite end a series of screw holes, and a thumb screw securing the other supporting strap by engagement in one of the said screw holes, whereby said supporting straps are adjustably spaced apart.

2. A support for a breast strap comprising front and rear supporting straps secured at their lower ends to the breast strap, a spacing bar pivotally connected at one end to the upper portion of the rear supporting strap and having an adjustable connection at its opposite end with said front supporting strap, said bar being curved upwardly midway between its ends, and holding straps secured at their upper ends to said rear supporting strap and having an adjustable con nection at their lower ends wit-h said breast strap.
