Application filed March 25, 1909. Scriai IE0. 485,771.
To all whom it may concern; I
Be it known that I, AUcUs'rIN HENDRICKS, a citizen of the United States of-America,
residing at Grand Rapids, in the county of Kent and State of lvlichigamhave invented certain new and useful Improvements in Stands for Duplicating-Machines, and I do hereby declare the following to be axfull, clear, and. exact description of the invention, such as will enableothers skilled in the art to which it ap'pertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to improved stands for duplicating machines, and its object is .to provide a substantially metallic structure,"
adapted to contain trays tohold the type;
to pivotally support a suitable device upon which to set the type in movable relation to the tray containing the type; to support the trays interchangeably in proper position for use in setting the type, to provide a suitable.
. stand for a duplicatingmachine, and to provide the device with various new and useful features, hereinafter more fully described and particularly pointed out inthe claims, reference being had 'to the accompanying drawings, in which: I
Figure 1 is-an end elevation of a device embodying my invention; Fig. 2 a perspective of the same; Fig.3 a plan View of the same; Fig; i a detail in ltransver'severtical section of the 'samepFig. 5 an enlarged detail showing the means for;connecting the corner posts and angle irons "that form portions of the frame; lclig. 6 the same of posts and angle irons, which'form' the tray supports; and, Fig. 7 a detail of a portion of one corner of the structure, shown in elevation.
- Like numbers refer to like parts in. all. of the figures.
1 represents the corner. posts, which are preferably of steel tubes arranged. at the respective cornersof a rectangular structure. Extending horizontally across'the end ofthe structure is a seriesof angle bars 2,- the ends of the horizontal members of, which are formed tubular and surround rods 3 and 3? extending across the front and rear of the structure 'at suitable intervals and are arranged parallel. I
To form a rigid frame-work, any convenient numberof these angle "bars have their vertical members extended'alongsideof the h posts 1 and secured thereto-by screws 15.'
To permit access to the rear of the trayw-hen in use, I prefer to remove'the middle por- I tion' of the upper rod, leaving the ends of the same in the form of short studs 4;, to which the upper angle bars are connected as described. Any convenient number of the rods 3- are extended whollythrough the posts and thusserve as tie-bolts to form portions of the frame. The rods 3 do not extend wholly through the posts and are merely inserted in the openings in the posts. EX- tending between the" rods that are in the same plane and at each end ofthe structure are the angle bars 2' heretofore described. Upon the upper pair of angle bars is supported a table 11 on which the machine or any other convenient device may be placed,
. 6 and 7 on the under side of the table, the
stop 6 preventing inward movement of the tray and the stop 7 engaging the inside of the rear wall of the trayto hold the tray from moving outward, the latter stop being short enough so that by raising the front of the tray, the rear wall will pass beneath the same and disengage therewith, or by reverse movement be engaged therewith.
On one or more of the corner posts is a vertical pin 8 to engage a socket -10,.upon
wliichipin the socket is rotativc and supports a device consisting of, aninclined table having one end and one side wall 9, on which table the typeinay be set. The device is adapted to. be operated at eitherfside of the caseand the. table .9 can be swung horizontally aboutits pivot over the tray and table or awayfroni ovcr tlie-saineto adjust-itconveniently for taking the types one by-one from the tray and placing the some on the said table or to transfer the type to the 111th chine. To provide suitable fastc'nings for .the screws 15, the stay'rods '3, and studs i,
I provide concave saddles 13 of fcast metal arranged in pairs at opposite sides of the posts and embracing the same through which saddles the various screws 15, studs 4, and rods 8 are extended. The saddles "thus I ironsisbelow-fthe to ofthe rods 3and 3..

6. A duplicating machine stand, coInprising a fixed table top to support a machine, a tray to contziin type, means for supporting them-a projected in front of saidtablc top, an inclined table having one side Wall and one end wall, and means for detachably and pivotally supporting said inclined tableto swing over the fixed top 'andtrajy or away from over the same.
7. A duplicating'n achine stand, comprising corner posts, a fixed table top supported thereby, means for supporting a series of type trays below said top, means forv supporting a tray projected in fi'ont of said fixed top,"pins in the corner posts, a socket detachably and pivotally supported on a pin and an inclined table supported by the socket and having one end ,wall and one side Wall.
