INKSTAND WITH SELF-FILLING WELL.
Specification of Letters latent.
Application led May 5, 1909.
Patented Jan. 25, 1910.
Serial No. 494,109.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HUGO KLETT, manufacturer, a subject of the Grand Duke of SaXeWeimar-Eisenach, residing at Ilmenau, Grand Duchy of SaXe-Weimar-Eisenach, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Inkstands with Self-Filling Wells, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention comprehends the production of an ink stand including a receptacle for the reserve supply of ink, this receptacle being superposed upon a reservoir provided with one or more dip cups, the ink being fed automatically to said reservoir as fast as it is consumed.
The preferred embodiment of the invention is illustrated in theaccompanying drawing, wherein- Figure l is a fragmental, longitudinal sectional view of the improved ink stand; and Fig. 2 is a front elevation thereof.
Referring more particularly to the drawings it will be seenthat the reservoir 2 which is provided with a dip opening 3 or a num ber of such openings, is formed in the bowl, or otherwise, shaped base l. Upon this reservoir is mounted a receptacle 5 adapted to contain the reserve supply of ink, the bottom wall or floor 4 thereof forming the top of the reservoir. In the above mentioned wall there is formed a downwarly extending bore 6 of the dropper converging to a comparatively small outlet opening 8 through which the ink contained in the receptacle is fed slowly into the reservoir. The upper end of the receptacle is adapted to be closed by a suitable plug, thereby rendering said receptacle airtight. This receptacle is preferably made bottle-shaped.
The stand, as a whole, may be made of porcelain, glass, earthenware, metal, or any other suitable material.
l/Vhat is claimed is:
An inkstand comprising a base formed with a reservoir, and a filling receptacle superposed upon the reservoir having its bottom wall forming the top thereof, said wall being formed with a funnel-shaped dropper extending downwardly into said reservoir to feed the contents of the recep tacle slowly thereinto, said receptacle having its upper end provided with an inlet opening adapted to receive a plug.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
