Be it known that I, Louis NATHAN, a citizen of the United States of America, and a resident of Chicago, in the count-y of (look and State of I llinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ladies Dressing-Sacks, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to ladies garments 3 and more especially to that class of such garments known as dressing sacks, and has for its object to provide a simple and etlicient structural arrangement and combination of parts whereby the garment is made to adapt itself to the wants of persons of a different sizein any easy uniform and symmetrical manner, all as will hereinafter `more `fully appear. t

In the accompanying drawings :l `igure l, is a perspective view of a ladys dressing sack to which the present. improvementy is applied. Fig. Q. is a horizontal section through the waist portion of the garment showing the same in an extended condition during the process of manufacture. Fig. 3, is a similar view in a finished and normally contracted condition. Fig. el, is an enlarged detail section of one end 0f such portion of the garment. Fig. 5, is an enlarged detail vertical section on line Fi g. 1.

Similar numerals of reference indicate like parts in the several views.

Referring to the drawings, l represents the body portion of a ladys dressing sack of any usual pattern. and which in the present improvement has its waist portion provided with a. pocket or casing 2 formed by a strip of fabric 3, secured to the waist of the garment, and preferably to the outside of the same, by two separate rowsv 4 and of stitches running parallel to each other as `shown.

t5 is a. wear strip of fabric secured to the garment waist at the side opposite to the j aforesaid strip 3 of fabric, and by means of suitable rows of stitches as shown in Fig. 5.

at or near its midlength to the central back portion of the garment by a row 8 of stitches or other equivalent fastening means, while its respective ends extend and are attached to the edges of the front seams of the garment in immediate adjacent relation to the buckle members 9 and l0 by means of which the waist portion of the garment is secured around the waist of the wearer.

'lhe useful features of the present irnprovement are as follows: First, the elastic band 7 is held from any creeping in the pocket casing 2, and in consequence is always in proper position; second, the stress of the elastic band to hold the garment to the waist of the wearer is uniform all around the wearers waist, and in consequence a snug lit is attained without any undue strain at any particular spot; third, the shirring or puckering folds in the strip of fabric 3. forming the pocket or easing 2, as well as the adjacent portions of the garment are given a uniform size and appearance due to the even contraction of the two inde endent portions of the elastic fabric 7, an which independence is attained by the row of stitches S heretofore described.

In the present invention the waist portion of the garment as well as the pocket forming strip 3 and wear strip 6, are drawn taut; as illustrated in Fig. 2, while the elastic band 7 is stretched to thel required limit to produce the required puckerinq folds or shirring of the parts when release( fhile in the above described condition the operations of effecting the rows 4, 5 and 8 of stitches, as well as the attachment of the ends of the elastic band to the front seams of the garment, are performed, after which and when released from the taut condition above described, the garment will assume a normal condition ready for use.
