Description

initd gmiss- FRITZ soHALLER, or MATTooN, ILLINOIS.
Lette/rs Patent No. 94,655, dated September 7, 1869.
IMPRovEMENT IN MILK-Houses.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters P atent and making part of the same,
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRITZ SCHALLER, of Mattoon, in the county of Coles, and State of Illinois, have iuvented a new and improved Milk-House; and l do hereby declare that the following is a, full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification.
This invention relates to improvements in milkhouses, having for its object 'to provide a simple and convenient arrangement for securing the best possible ventilation.
The invention consists of a house formed by the arrangement, upon a stone base, of' inclined sides, meeting at their upper edges, and of vertical ends, the sides being hinged at the base, 1o swing open in a vertical plane, and the triangular ends being divided at the centre and hinged to swing horizontally. The Walls are made double, with spaces between, and provided with Ventilating-passages, all as hereinafter specified.
Figure 1 represents an end viewvof my improved milk-house, a part being sectioned, and
Figure 2 represents a plan view.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding arts. pYA represents the brick or stone floor, and
B, the double-walled sides, hinged thereto at O, and arranged to meet against the frame D, erected centrally between them, making, together With the base, a triangular forni.
The ends E, which are also double walled, are divided at the centre and hinged to the posts of the frame D. l
The sides are provided with passages F, protected by blinds G, to keep ont the rays of the sun.
It is intended to keep the house open as much as possible, and, for this reason, posts H are placed opposite the sides, for supporting them when swung back on their hinges, and to facilitate the opening and closing, the sides are provided with weights and cords. The posts are made hollow to guard the Weights.
The milk-trough I is placed within the house on the floor, and provided with open sides and top, the said openings being covered with panels of wire or other reticulated substance, to admit the air and keep out the flies.
K represents a water-spout, for conveying water thereto, for cleaning and for other purposes.
rlhis constructionis favorable for opening'. and clos` ing at different sides, as the sunchanges, to admit the air and exclude the rays of the sun.
Having thus described my invention,
I claim as new, -and desire to secure by Letters Patentt The arrangement of the double-walled sides B, ends E, frame D, weights and cords, and posts H, all sul;-
stantially as specilied.
