Zettera Patent No. 77,480, dated May 5, 1868.
IMPROVEMENT IN PORTABLE BATH-HOUSES.
the strata ttfttttltit in that with hated tarnishing out at this am.
TO ALL WHOM-IT. MAY CONCERN:
, Be it known that 1, Joan GoUnLAY, of Eseanaba, in the county of Delta, in the State'of Michigan, have invented a useful and improved, Portable Bath-House; andl' do hereby-declare that the following is a full and,
exact description thereof, reference being had to thea'cco npan'yingdrawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this speeificnticn, in which-,
' Figure 1 is an elevation ofany bath-house,,with theupper door open.
Figure 2, a; section of the same, taken through the red'line X Xi, fig; ,3; Figure 3 a plan view, with'one corner broken away to gi le a clear view-of the construction of theoutside covering.
The nature of my invention relates to a bath-housqwhieh can be readily takenapart, and removed-from" one roorn to'nnother, and .put together for use by any person of ordinary skill, without the use of tools; and
further, in the use 'of an adjustable water-tank, rn'ade to run in slides, and suspended upon a cord, and arranged to be lowered down for the reception of water, and raised up to .the proper height for discharging the same upon a person in thehouse. v I
Audio arranging a gate with ajointed lever and a crank, by means of which the tiow of water from the tank can be readily controlled, Also, in the use of double doors for the convenience of bathing children without wetting the clothes'ofla person who has them in charge, as the lower'door can beshut and yet alloweufficient room to perform the operation.
In; order to gire a correct understanding of my invention, I have marked corresponding parts with similar letters, and will now give a detailed deseription.
- 0 represents the sides and ends of the bath-house, which are made of any suitable lumber, matched together or otherwise, as most convenient for making the house the required size. A substantial -bottoi n, A B, is also made of wood and framed closely together, so as to be wate'r-tight, and hasarnbbet, a, made in its inner upper corner for supporting the sides and ends C C C G, and the corner posts D D D'D, as seen at figs. land 2. The
corner posts have also r abbet-s, as seen at fig. 3, for supporting the edges of the ends and sides, 0 G C C, and
are fitted at their tops to receive a cap, E, which-holds the "sid'es'and ends of the house together, said cap being' arranged so as to be lifted'off from the top of the house when it is to be taken apart.
Wooden slides, H-H, are rigidly attached to one end'of the house, and have tongues on'their inner sides for guiding the tank, I, when being run up-and down.
This tank is supported by a cord, U, which is fastened to one of theslides H near its top, and made to pass under pulleys KK, and over a. pulley, J, and broughtydown and fastened to a drum, X, fig. 2, which may be perated by a crank, S, and held in place by a'ratchet, land loop, V
The arrangement for regulating the flow of water is as follows: i,
, A gate, M, is arranged to slide in a guide, Y, and has a lcv er, 1n, jointed to it and to a crank, I, having a bearing in a block L, and can be raised to=give a required How of water through a perforated plate, R,'by
simply elevating the end of crank P, as shown at fig. B B.
The doors F G. are hung so as to open separately, and for the purpose above set forth. Having thus described my device, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is- The general combination and arrangement of the tanle-I, slides H H, pulleys K K, J, cord U, drum X, gate M, lever n, crank P, with house A B G D E F G, substantially as set forth. I
' I JOHN GOURLAY.
