To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that we, MILES B. CHANDLER and MARINUEs OOSDYKE, citizens of the United States of America, residing at Grand Rapids, in the county of Kent and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Garment-Supports for lVardrobes; and we do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

Our invention relates to improvements in garment supports for wardrobes, and its object is to provide a simple and effective device for the purpose, and to provide the same with various novel features of construction, hereinafter more fully described and particularly pointed out in the claims, reference being had to the accompanying drawings in which:

Figure l is a side elevation of the device embodying our invention mounted in a wardrobe; Fig. 2 the same detached, and extended; Fig. 3 a transverse vertical section on the line 88 of Fig. 1; Fig. 1 the same on the line 1-4 of Fig. 1; Fig. 5 a broken detail in side elevation; and, Fig. 6 a frontelevation. Figs. 3, 4L, and 5 are on an enlarged scale.

1 is a fixed member consisting of an I- beam supported in the wardrobe by means of

brackets

2 and 3 attached thereto. 4-4= are two angle bars having their vertical members arranged in the plane of the outer edges of the I-beam and their horizontal members projecting inward beneath the horizontal upper member of the I-beam and terminating close to the web thereof. The upper and lower members of the I-beam and the vertical members of the angle bars, thus form in transverse section a parallelogram on the outside. The angle bars. are supported upon two fixed rollers 5 jo'rirnaled on a pin 14 near the front end of the I-beam and fixed in the web thereof. These rollers support the horizontal members of the angle bars and are traversed thereby. These members are also provided with a slight depression 16 near the front end to receive the rollers 5, and thus yieldingly retain the device in closed position. The rear ends of these angle bars are provided with rollers which fit between the upper and lower members of the I-beam and freely traverse the same. These rollers G are mounted on studs 15 fixed in the vertical members of the angle bars. The horizontal members are cut away opposite the rollers to allow the latter to engage the upper horizontal member of the I-beam.

Surrounding the angle bars and I-beam; movably inclosing the I-beam, and attached to the angle bars, is a band 7, the ends 8 of which are extended downward forming a hanger and attached thereto and spaced apart from said beam is a tube 11 on which the garments are hung by means of any convenient devices. This tube at the forward end is carried by a support 9 having a socket 19 in which the tube is inserted and secured by a screw 12. The support 9 is secured at its upper end to the angle bars 41 and is extended downward to form a handle 10 to move the device out from and into the case. WVithin the tube 11 is a reinforcing tube 17 provided with a plug 18 at the forward end in which plug the screw 12 is inserted. These

11 and 17 are slotted at the rear end to receive the hanger 8 and secured thereto by the rivet 13.

What we claim is 1. A garment support for wardrobes, comprising an I-beam, means for securing the same within a wardrobe, bars longitudinally movable wholly within the channels of said beam, downwardly extended members connecting the bars and spacing the same apart, and a tube carried by said members.

2. A garment support for wardrobes, comprising an I-beam adapted to be fixed in the wardrobe, angle bars movable in the channels of the I-beam and forming therewith a parallelogram in cross section, a pair of stationary rollers near the front of the beam and engaging the horizontal members of the angle bars, a pair of rollers traversing both the upper and lower surfaces of the channels of the I-beam and attached to the rear end of the angle bars, and a support for garments suspended beneath the angle bars and carried thereby.

3. A garment support for wardrobes, comprising an I-beam, means for securing the same within a wardrobe, angle bars slidable Wholly within the channels of the I-beam, a

pair of rollers between the web of the beam and the vertical members of the angle bars and traversed by the horizontal members thereof, a pair of rollers mounted on the inner ends of the angle bars and traversing both the upper-and lower walls of the channels of the I-beam, a hanger attached to the inner ends of the channel bars and extending downward therefrom, a support attached to the outer ends of the channel bars and also extending downward therefrom, and a tube attached at its respective ends to the support and hanger.

A garment support for wardrobes, com prising an I-beam, means for securing the same within a wardrobe, angle bars movable in the channels of the beam and having their vertical members in the plane of the edges of the horizontal members of the beam and their horizontal members extending inward, a pair of rollers journaled on a pin fixed in the web of the beam near the front end there of and traversed by the horizontal members of the angle bars, a pair of rollers mounted on studs fixed in the vertical members of the angle bars and traversing the channel of the beam, a band movably surrounding the beam and attached to the angle bars and also extending downward to form a hanger,

a support attached to the front end of the angle bars and extending downward, a tube attached to the supportat one end and to the hanger at the other end, and a handle on the support.

0. A garment support for Wardrobes, comprising an I-beam adapted to be secured in a war robe, angle bars longitudinally movable wholly within the channels of the beam, rollers supporting the bars and fixed in the channels, rollers supporting the bars and traversing the channels, a hanger and a support attached to the bars and extending downward therefrom, an outer tube carried by the hanger and support a reinforcing tube within said outer tube, a plug in one end of the tubes, a screw inserted through the support and within the plug, said tubes also having a slot at the other end to receive the hanger, and a rivet extending through the tubes and hanger.
