LOUIS GALLOT, OF GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN, ASSIGNOR TO GRAND RAPIDS SHOW CASE COMPANY, OF GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN, A
CORPORATION OF MICHIGAN.
CLOTHING-SUPPORT FOR WARDROBES- Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec.12, 1905.
Application filed August 2, 1905. Serial No. 272,353.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LoUIs GALLo'r, a citizen of the United States, residing at Grand Rapids, in the county of Kent and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Clothing-Supports for Ward robes; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention relates to improvements in clothing-supports for wardrobes; and its object is to provide a support that can be moved wholly outside the wardrobe, together with the clothing supported thereon, or wholly within the same, as occasion may require, and to provide the device with various new and useful features hereinafter more fully described, and particularly pointed out in the claims.
My invention consists, essentially, of a ba fixed in the upper part of the wardrobe, movable bars at the respective sides of the fixed bar and adapted to be partially extended outside the case, a clothing-support embracing the movable bars and movable thereon and adapted to be moved wholly outside the case, and a rod attached to the support and suspended beneath the same, on which rod the clothing is suspended, as will more fully appear by reference to the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure l is a vertical section of the case with my invention shown therein in extended position; Fig. 2, an enlarged transverse section of my device on the line 2 2 of Fig. 3; Fig. 3, a side elevation of my device detached and in closed position; Fig. 4, the same inextended position; Fig. 5, a plan view of the same as in Fig. 4; Fig.6, an enlarged sectional detail shown on the line 6 6 of Fig. 4; Fig. 7, the same on the line 7 7 of Fig. 4. Fig. 8 is a sectional elevation of Fig. 6. Fig. 9 is the same of Fig. 7.
Like numbers refer to like parts in all of the figures. I 1 represents a wardrobe or other case of any convenient dimensions; 2, a rigid bar fixed in the upper part of the case by means of brackets 12, attached to the frame of the case and to the ends of the bar.
3 represents two thin flat bars arranged at the respective sides of the bar 2 and movably supported thereon by means of vertically-arranged straps 6, attached to the bars 3, embracing the bar 2 and provided with rolls 7 and 8, journaled between the ends of the straps 6 and engaging the respective upper and lower edges of the bar 2, one pair of these straps being at the rear endof the bars 3 and the other pair at such a distancethere from as will support the bars horizontally and permit the same to run out of the case slightly more than one-half of their length.
On the outer side of the bars 3 are journaled two pairs of rolls 10, one pair located at the outer end of the bars and the other pair near the middle thereof. With their channeled sides engaging these rolls and traversing the same are two channel-bars 4, connected at the under side by a semitubular connecting member 11, to which member are attached hangers 9, by which the rod 5 is sus pended beneath the connecting member 11 and parallel therewith. Upon this rod the clothing is suspended as most convenient.
13 is a stop and handhold on the outer end of the bars 4, by which they are stopped when run inward and are manually drawn outward.
From the foregoing description the operation of my invention will be readily understood. When drawn outward, the rod 5 is securely supported and brought wholly outside the case, together with the articles supported thereby, and when run inward the same will be wholly within the case.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. In a wardrobe, a fixed bar, a longitudinally-movable bar at each side of the fixed bar and supported thereby, means for connecting the movable bars arranged to traverse the fixed bar, channelbars longitudinally movable on the said movable bars and supported thereby, means for connecting said channel-bars, and means for suspending clothing from said connecting means.
2. In a wardrobe, 2. fixed bar, brackets connecting the ends of said bar to the wardrobe, vertically-arranged straps movable on the fixed bar and connected to each other, longitudinally-movable bars attached to said straps, channel-bars supported by the movable bars and longitudinally movable thereon, a connecting member between the channel-bars,-
and a rod supported by said connecting mem- 'ber.
3. In a Wardrobe, a fixed bar, means for attaching the ends of said bar to the wardrobe, straps embracing the bar, rolls journaled between the ends of the straps and traversing the respective upper and lower edges of the bar, two fiat bars attached to the straps and movable therewith, rolls journaled on said bars, channel-bars engaging and traversing .the rolls, a connecting member between the ber connecting the channel-bars, and a rod supported and carried by the said member.
5. The combination of a wardrobe, a fixed bar, brackets connecting the ends of the bar to the wardrobe, vertically-disposed straps arranged in pairs and connected at the ends, rolls journaled between the respective ends of the straps and traversing the respective upper and lower edges of the bar, flat bars attached to the straps and movable therewith, rolls mounted on the flat bars, channel-bars engaging and traversing the rolls, a semicylindrical member connecting the channel-bars, hangers attached to said member, and a rod supported by said hangers.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
LOUIS GALLOT.
