WINDOW-SHADE PACKAGE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Jan. 4, 1910.
Application led August 4, 1909. Serial No. 511,173.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MONROE PRICE, a citizen of the United States, residing at the city of St. Louis, State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improve ments in Window- Shade Packages, of which the following is a specilication, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
This invention consists of an improved shade-roller package in which a shade rolled u on a roller and having a wrapper thereon 1s bound into a unit package with a receptacle for the attachments for the roller.
The object of this invention is to inclose the roller attachments (brackets, screws, and nails) in a compartment within the receptacle, separated from the end, of the shade by a diaphragm, which prevents said attachments from coming in contact with the end of the shade or the spring journal in the end of the roller and injurlng same, as has heretofore occurred in unit shade roller packages.
In the drawings forming part of this specification, in which like numbers of reference denote like parts wherever they ocwenn Figure l is a side elevation of the invention, and Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the receptacle having a portion of the side broken away.
The receptacle l which is preferably made of pasteboard or the like, is provided with a bottom 2. Said receptacle is divided into the compartments 3 and 4 by the disk 5, which is slid therein and is of such size that its entire periphery is in contact with the inner surface of said receptacle. The shade 6 wound on roller 7 is covered with a wraper 8. P The fixtures to attach the roller to the window frame are placed in the receptacle 1, and the disk 5 is then slid into the said receptacle into a position as shown in Fig. 2, said fixtures being thus inclosed in compartment 3, within said receptacle between the bottom 2 and said disk. The shade 6,
covered with wrapper 8 is then slipped into compartment 4, and the label 9 is attached by adhesive material to and around a portion of the wrapper and overlaps the end of the receptacle, as depicted 1n Fig. l, whereby sald wrapper is prevented from unwrapping and said receptacle is held on the end of the shade-roller. By disk 5, the fixtures are prevented from damaging the end of the shade or the spring journal, as hereinabove stated.
I claim:
l. A shade roller package comprising, in combination with a shade roller having a wrapper, a box having a closed and an open end, a disk slidable in said box and adapted to be moved into position, after the shade roller attachments have been placed in the box, whereby the attachments are confined between the closed end of the box and the disk, the open end of the box receiving and inclosing an end of the shade roller and its wrapper, the said end of the shade roller being for engagement with said disk, anda label extendlng to partly engage over the periphery of the box and onto the shade roller wrap er.
2. A shacllJ roller package comprising, in combination with a shade roller having a wrapper thereon, a box divided into a compartment having two closed ends and a second compartment having its outer end open and adapted to conformably receive therein one end of the wrapped shade, and a label secured at one end about the exterior of the box and at its opposite end being secured about the shade wrapper.
3. A shade roller package, comprising, in combination with a shade roller having a Wrapper which extends the length thereof, a box having a closed and an open end, one end of said shade roller being received in said open end of the box, a movable partition in said box, the shade roller attachments being received in said box between said closed end and said movable partition, said partition being engaged by said end of the shade roller and held thereby against movement, and means to hold the box against movement with respect to the shade roller consisting of a flexible band which is afixed by adhesives to the box and the wrapper of the shade roller, and which engages over the points of juncture between the wrapper and the box.
