With these and other objects in view the inventiononsists in certain novel details ot' Construction and combinations of parts here inafter more fully described and pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings the preferred form of the invention has been shown. I v
In said drawings :--I"igure l is a perspective View of a holster embodying the present improvements, a portion' of the ease being broken away. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section through the bottoni portion ot the holster. Fig. 3 is a detail view ot' lthe defleeting plate. l 'Referring to the figures by characters oi". reference l designates the ease oi the holster. thesame being preferably formed of leather and of the usual or any preferred torni. 'Within the holster is mounted a detlecting plate made of steel or any other suitable metal. the plate being indicated at Q and having its edge portions curved outwardly las shown at 3, said detlecting plate being so shaped as to fit snugly within the case 1 and against that wall thereotl contacting with the weaier. This detleeting plate can. be secured within the holster at the time of man-- .ufaeture,. or if preferred can be placed upon the market as an article of manufacture designed tq: be inserted loosely into an ordinary holster. vice in the event ot the accidental discharge of the pistol contained within the holster. Should the pistol be discharged the bullet would be projected against the curved edge portion ot the plate and this would detiect it outwardly away 'trom the wearer. lt' will be noted that both longitudinal edges and the lower end ot' `the plate are curved to torni dellectors. so that the bullet will be properly deflected in the manner s 'ed should the barrel ot the pistol bear against any one olz said curvedv portions.
lt will be seen that the device is very simple and inexpensive in construction. and isA especially advantageous because it can be readily applied to ordinary forms ot hol sters.-as l/icreinbetore set torth.
Obviously various changes may be madt` in the construction and arrangement' olE the parts without departing.)l i'rom the spirit or sacrificing the advantages otl tht` inventit'm.
lllliat' is claimed is zl. An attachment Jfor holsters comprisiiml a plate and a lellecting portion outturned from the plate and extending across the lower portion thereof.
An attachment Vtor holsters comprising a plate conforming to the contour ot and inscrtible into a holster and having an outstanding detleeting portion extending across the bottom thereof.
3. An attachment .tor holsters comprising a plate conforming in contour with and in sertible into a holster. said plate having` outstandingmarginal portions extending across the bottom and along the sides thereof and constituting detlecting means.
il. The combination with' a holster. ol'l bul l'et-delecting means upon one wall of the holster and having an outstanding marginal det'lecting portion upon the bottom oi' the 5. The combination with a holster. of a plate in one wall thereof and having an outstanding del-lootingr portion within and extending aeross thtl bottom ot tlY e holster.
