CARTRIDGE AND GAME BELT.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. '7, 196%..
Application filed May 27, 1909. Serial No. 498,760.
T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it knownthat I, VILLIE A. VVILEY, a citizen of the United States, residing at est Point, in the county of Clay and State of Mississippi, and useful Improvements in Cartridge and Game Belts; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to improvements in cartridge and game belts and it has for its eneral object to provide a cheap, simple 3nd light belt of wire and one which will securely hold the cartridges and yet will permit of a quick and easy removal of the same and which will serve to carry the game in a position convenient to the gunner.
lNith this and other objects in View, the invention consists of certain novel features of construction, combination and arrangements of parts, as will be more fully described and particularly pointed out in the appended claims.
In the accompanying drawings: Figure 1 is a perspective view illustrating the application of the invention. Fig. 2 is a fragmentary view on an enlarged scale of a portion of a belt. Fig. 3 is a vertical trans verse section on line 33 of Fig. 2. Fig. l is a detail perspective view on an enlarged scale of one of the game supporting hooks.
Referring to the drawings for a more particular description of the invention 1 inclicates a belt which may be formed of any suitable flexible material and 2 the cartridge receptacles which are foaned by suitably fixing a strip of flexible material to the belt. The belt is also provided with the hip pieces 3 which are sewed or otherwise attached to the inner faces of the ends of the belt.
In carrying out the invention a plurality of hook supporting wires are arranged at the hip members of the belt and are provided with outwardly projecting hook portions 41 which project through corresponding eyes 5 formed in the belt. A plurality of game supporting hooks 6 provided with hook portions 7 are engaged with the hook portions of the supporting wires. The lower ends of the legs 8 of the game supporting hook are preferably formed with have invented certain new hooks to suitably engage the game. The belt is attached to the waist of the hunter by means of a connecting strip 9 provided with a series of hooks 10, the connecting strip being inserted in a suitable casing 11 arranged at the opposite ends of the belt and hooks of said strip engaged with the openings 12 of the casing.
From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, the construction and operation of the invention will be readily understood without requiring a more extended explanation.
Various changes in the form, proportion and the minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the principle or sacrificing any of the advantages of this invention.
I claim as my invention:
1. A belt of the class described comprising a cartridge supporting strip, a plurality of game supporting hooks near opposite ends of the belt, a rectangular casing provided with a plurality of spaced hook receiving apertures attached to one end of the belt, and a fiat connecting strip provided with a series of outwardly bent hooks adapted to be engaged with the apertured portions of said casing.
2. A belt of the class described, comprising a cartridge supporting strip provided at opposite ends with longitudinal series of spaced apertures, hip members arranged at the'inner faces and at opposite ends of the cartridge supporting strip, series of vertical supporting wires arranged between the hip members and the ends of the belt and having central outwardly projecting portions which pass through the apertures of the latter, and game supporting members having hooked or looped portions to engage those of the supporting wires and hooked terminals to engage the game, and means for adjustably connecting the ends of the belt together.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
l/VILLIE A. WILEY.
