, d By 70%@ K2, adapted to be seated on the top of the vent J to hold the valve K in an Open position, as shown in Fig. 2. When the Water rises in the vessel A, it finally moves the valve K to its seat to closel the air vent J, as shown in Fig. l, and when the Water fiovvs out of the vessel A the valve K drops to open the air vent J and allow air to pass into the vessel A for the proper discharge of the Water from the vessel A, as above explained.
The device shown and described is very Simple and durable in construction, is absolutely noiseless and effectively controls the discharge of the water from the vessel A.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
l. A vflushing or filling tank, comprising a closed receptacle connected with a water supply and provided in its bottom with a valve seat, a float valve within the said vessel and 'adapted to seat itself on the said valve seat at the time the vessel is empty, a valve casing underneath the said valve seat and intersect-ing,r the same to allow the said float valve to extend into the valve casing, and a shiftable valve mounted to slide in the said valve closed receptacle connected with a Water supply and provided in its bottom with a valve seat, a iloat valve within the said vessel and adapted to seat itself on the said valve seat at the time the vessel is empty, a valve casing underneath the said valve seat and intersecting the same to allow the said float valve to extend into the valve easing, a shiftable valve mounted to slide in the said valvecasing and havin a tapering end adapted to engage the sai float valve and lift it oit its seat, and a connection between the said shittable valve and the cover for a water closet, to actuate the said shiftable valve on opening and closing the said cover.
A iiushin or iilling tank comprising a closed receptac e connected with a Water supply and provided in its bottom with a valve seat, a float valve Within the vessel and c0- operating with the seat, a transversely movable valve' beneath the seat and adapted to close the opening through the valve Seat, said valve having a tapering end for engaging and unseating the float valve.
In testimony whereof I have Signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
