IMPRO'EMENT IN OIL-CANS. l
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making pali: of the same To all whom it may concern that the oil must enter the spout or `eduction-tube at or near the bottom ofthe can, thus remaining sealed by the oil, from any. escape of vapor from the chamber ofthe can into the spout, until the oil is nearly drained from the can and also in providing the can with an air-tube, which admits the air into the tube under the bottom of the can, and into the chamber of the can near the top.

Figure 2 is a vertical central section of thc can, showing my am'angement of' the oil-tube and air-tube.
In vthe construction of my improved oil-can, the main body of the same may be of any suitable construction, as seen in fig. l. v
The spout 0r eduction-tube A passes down inside of the can, to the bottom of thelatter, as seen in g. 2; and a small recess, C, is made below the main bottom of the can, so that a very small portion of oil will seal the eduction-tube internally, and prevent the escape of vapor into the atmosphere while pouring oil from the can.-
In iig. 2 is shown an air-tube, B, which admits air through the bottom ofthe can, and conducts the same to near the top ofthe can, thus supplying Vair to the chamber of the can as the oil is poured'out. By this arrangement my improved can is made proof against explosions. f'
I do not confine my invention tothe precise arrangement above described.
I claim an 'oil-can provided with an ednction-tube, A, on the inside of the can, in connection with a-Ie cess, O, below the general' surf'ace of the bottom of the can, and an air-tube, B, for admitting air through 'the bottom ofthe can, and conducting the same to the' top of the can, substantially in the manner and for the purposes set forth.
