The cuspidor comprises a basin 1', having a central depending hollow extension 2 at the bottom thereof. The upper edge of the basin 1 is arranged to fit against a gasket 4; held within a groove 5 formed in the rim of the cover 6. By turning the handle 48 so that the valves 44 are moved away from their seats, the sterilizing fluid may be forced directly through the piping without first passing through the various cuspidbrs, in order to effectually cleanse said piping and force the contents out through the discharge valve 58 and connection 60, which will then be open.
The receptacles 24 may be removed and placed in a suitable sterilizing chamber, if desired, andthen be replaced in the cuspidors.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. The combination of a cuspidor having rovided with a cover, and a pipe to which the cuspidor is secured, having a nozzle pro-Q vided with lateral and alined discharge openings, the lateral opening being of less diameter than the extension of the cuspidor and projecting throu h said extension into the cuspidor, and the alined opening being valve-controlled.
2. The combination of a pipe having a lateral collared opening to which a cuspidor is adapted to be secured, a nozzle in the pipe and having lateral and alined discharge.

The combination of a pipe provided with a nozzle having discharge openin s a. right angles one to the other, one o the openings being in alinement with the pipe and the other projecting laterally-through an opening in the pipe, a cuspidor secured to the pipe around the lateral discharge opening of the nozzle, a valve in the dlscharge opening of the nozzle which is in alinement with the pipe, a crank shaft mounted in the pipe, a rod connected to the crank of said shaft and to the valve, and a handle for operating the crank shaft.

The combination with a pipe, of a plurality of cuspidors communicatin with said pipe, a plurality of nozzles in saic pipe, each having one branch communicating with one of said cus idors and another branch for directing a uid longitudinally through said pipe, and means whereby said nozzles ma be controlledto direct a fluid flow througi said cuspidors and pipe, or through said pipe alone. a
6. The combination of a pipe, a plurality of cuspidors connected with the pipe, a plurality of nozzles in the pipe, each having two branches, one in. alinement with the pipe and the other at right angles thereto and projecting into a cuspidor, connected valves for the alined branches of the nozzle, a spring connected with one valve, and means connected with the other valve for operating the said valves.
7. The combination ofa cuspidor-having a raised cover provided with a central conical depending projection, a pipe to which the cuspidor is secured, and a nozzle in the pipe and discharging into the cuspidor.
