In the accompanying I drawings :Figure 1 is an elevation of a brush holder constructed in. accordance with .my invention. Fig. 2 is a similar View, at right angles to Fig. 1.
.In accordance with this invention, I provide a clasp for enga ing and holding the handle of a brush. thejaws A, B, hinged together at one end as at F' so that the said jaws may be opened and closed. At their opposite end, said jaws are connected together by an adjusting and bolt C. The' aw A'is' provided at 1ts center, on
its outer side, with the lug H. I also provide a socket piece E fpr the reception of one end of a handle, rod or stick of suitable material to be grasped and-operated by the painter or other person using the brush for any desire his clasp comprises on which is a winged nut work in a place which is hard-to reach. The i said socket piece is formed at its outer, smaller end with a pair of lugs I spaced apart sufliciently to enable the lug H of the brushclasp to be placed betweenthem. A
'ivot bolt K passes through central openings 1n the lugs H, I, and coacts with such lugs 1n pivotally connecting the brush clasp to the socket piece, so that the brush clasp may be turned to any desired angle with respect to the socket iece so as to hold the brush in d position, with respect to the socket piece, whether parallel wlthor at an angle thereto. A winged nut D operates on the bolt K and coacts therewith and with the lug to clamp the clasp to the socket piece in any adjusted position. The stick or rod'on which the socket piece is placed may be of any lengthnecessary to enable the operator to use the brush, as will be understood.
What is claimed is A brush holder of the class described comprising a socket piece and'a brush handle engaging clasp, said socket piece and clasp having coacting lugs, a screw coacting with said lugs to pivotally connect'said clasp to the socket piece and secure said clasp in an adjusted position, the said clasp having a pair of oppositely bowed arms hinged together at one end and an adjusting and clamping screw connecting said spring arms together at the opposite end.
In testimony whereof l aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
