Description

naar sans @sind -D dimm.
Letters Patent No. 93,561, dated August 10, 1869.
IMPROVEMN'I IN DOUBLE FAUCETS.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all lwhom, it may concern;
Be it known that I, EDWARD SAUTER, of Hartford, in the county of Hartford, and State of Connecticut, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Double Faucets; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and enactA description thereof, whereby 4a person skilled in the art can make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and tov theV letters of reference marked thereon.
Like letters, in the figures, indica-tethe same-parts.
Figure 1 is a side view of my improved faucet.
Figure 2/is .a horizontal section through the middle,
' on the line 'In n, fig. 1, showing the manner of consti-noting the interior parts.
The object of my invention is to construct a faucet which shall draw. from either of' two barrels, or other vessels, at will,.by turning the handle to one side or the other, or shut oi' from both. by turning it across in the usual manner.
My invention consists in forming the ystern A of the faucet with two tubes, b and o, running through it, iustead of one, as is usually the case.
'.lhe upright part or spout D of the faucet is made in the usual manner, except that it has two holes, e and j, leading to thehorizonial tubes c and b, instead of one.
These apertures are so placed that when the handle of the faucet is turnedI mt direction of the part A, it Will open communication with one or the other of the tubesb or c, according as the handle is turned to one side or the other.-
When the small'pin fi is turned against the stop to the side, shown in iig. 1, it opens communication vwith 1 .i the tube c, as shown in fig. 2; and when it is turned side, communication `is opened with to the opposite the tube b.
When the handle is turned across the part A, both tubes b and c are cut oli'.
' '1+- My invention is useful for drawing beer, orl other liquor, from two different barrels, for the purpose of mixing it. This can be done by having -proper con-- lmeeting-pipes with each from one of the tubes of the faucet, and byturning the handle so as to draw from one, and then reversing it to draw from the other.
Two different liquors may also be drawn, and kept separate if desired.
O' Zatm.,
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
`A double faucet, constructed and arranged substantially as herein described.
' EDIVARD SAUTER.
