- UNETED S MINNA FROESE, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
DISI I-WASHENG DEVICE.
Application filed November 23, 1908.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Sept. 2%,19ti9. SeriatNo. 464,008. i
To all whom it may concern:
ie it known that I, UINNA Fuonsii, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Dishashing Devices; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to dish washing devices ot' the type generally known as swabs and comprises the construction of the device provided with means tor feeding water to the operating part of the device.
()ue of the objects of the invention is the production of a simple dish washing device having a scraper attachment secured thereto and provided with a'suitable swab and with means for feediug'water to the scrape' and to the swab.
With this and other objects in view, the
invention consists of certain novel teaturcs of construction, combination and arrangement o1 parts, as will be more t'ully described and particularly pointed out in the appended claims.
ln the :u-companying drawings l igurc l is a side elevation Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional view thereof; l ig. ii is a longitudinal sectional view of a device having a moditied form of a scraper: Fi l is a similar view showing another modihed Form of a scraper; Fig. :7 is a detailed perspective view of the scraper shown in Fig. 3 detached and Fig. ti is a similar view ol' the scraper shown in Fig.4 detached. l
te'lcrriug to the :u-compalrving drawings, nume 'al 1 denotes a handle which is formed with a longitudinal bore 2 and provided with a head 3 which head is formed with annular grooves -land 5 and provided with transverse ports (3. The bore 2 extends through the handle and to a point in the upper end of the head 3 where it connects with the transverse ports (3. A suitable wire scraper 7 is secured to the lower end of the head to be used for removing hard substancesin pans, kettles, etc. A tassel. swab H is secured in the annular groove 4. by a string or wire 9 which embraces the upper edge of the scraper. A second swab it) is secured by a string or wire 11 in the annular groove 5 around the head 3. On the upper end of the handle 1 a flexible conduit or pipe 12 is secured, said conduit being connected with a suitable water source and adapted to supply hot or cold water, or vashing tluid to the swabs 8 and i0. (3 are disposed between the annular grooves and 5 so as to supply wateror other liquid to the swabs S and 1t).
in Figs. and 5 l have illustrated a ineditied form of a scraper comprising a shank 13 which is formed with oppositely extending wings 1t. which preferably taper in a downward direction. The shank 13 is secured to the head3 by being forced into said head and the wings may be disposed in the arc of a circle or angularly disposed in relation to each other.
In. Figs. 4 and 6 l have shown another modification ot' a scraper comprising a plate 15 formed with a lateral flange L6 and secured by screws 17 to the head 3.
From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawin 's, the construction and operation of the invention will be readily understood without requiring a more extended explanation.
Various changes in the form, proportion and the minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing 'lrom the prin ciple or sacrificing any of the advantages ot this invention as defined in the appended claims.
llaving thus described and ascertained the nature of my invention, what 1 claim as new and desire to secureby liett'ers-latent, is
1. A dishwashing attachment comprising a handle having a head t'ormed thereon, a plurality of swabs secured to the head, said head having a liquid channel running therethrough to the head and swabs, and a. scraper secured to the head and concealed by the swabs. I
2. In a dishwashing device of the class described a handle formed with a longitudinal bore and a head arranged on one end thereot. said head being also formed with a plurality of annular grooves and formed with transverse ports communicating with the longitudinal bore, a scraper secured to the head, and a plurality of swabs secured aroundthe head and in the annular grooves, and concealing the scraper.
5. In a dishwaslnng device of the class dc- Preferably the ports scribed a handle formedwith a longitudinal In testimony whereof I have hereunto set around the head to conceal the scraper, and W'itnesses:
bore and a head having transverse ports my hand in presence of two subscribing witcommunicating with the longitudinal bore, nesses. a scraper secured to the head, swabs secured MINNA FROESE.
a conduit secured to the handle for supply- JonN J. COLEMAN, 'ing liquid to the swabs and scraper. JAs. A. Down.
