Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed February 28, 1909.
933,029. Patented Aug. 31, 1909.
Serial No. 479,315.
accidental displacement by making the front end I of the l'ieel part abut against the rear end J of the toe part, or the overlapping surfaces .may be provided one with a projection K and the other with a depression L adapted to register therewith so that any endwise pressure will tend to prevent forward movement of the heel part but will not prevent the front end thereof from being lifted upwardly and rearwardly.
Having thus described my invention and its use I claim 1. A last divided transversely by lines of out which form overlapping surfaces, link receiving kerfs in the adjacent ends thereof. a link mounted one end in the heel part and one end in the toe part, said overlapping surfaces projecting beyond the front pivot, whereby the front end of the heel part can be turned upwardly and rearwardly and means for lockingthe two parts against accidental displacement. J a H 2. A last divided transversely by lines of out which form overlapping surfaces, link receiving kerfs'in the adjacent ends, a link mounted in said kerfs. the front end of the heel part being in locking engagement with the fear end of the toe part. said looking ongagement being etticient only against longitudinal and downward. pressure on the front end of the heel part.
In testimony whereof. l have signed my name to this specification in presence of two subscribing witnesses this twentieth day of l ebruary. 1909.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Amos G. Frrz, a citizen of the United States, residing at Auburn, in the county of Androseoggin and State of Maine, have invented new and useful Improvements in Lasts, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in lasts.
The main features of these improvements are shown but not laimed in my United States Patent No. 913,118, and consists in a novel construction of divided lasts wherein the last is divided transversely by lines of cut which fornr mutually-overlapping .sur: faces, the parts connected by a link, the overlap )ing surfaces extending beyond the pivot in the fore part, and in certain details of construction hereinafter more fully set out and particularly claimed.
The figure which is a vertical section shows my invention embodied in a last of the type called fillers. My invention is by no means limited to use in fillers but may be used in all kinds of lasts where applicable.
Same letters of reference indicate like parts.
In said drawings A:'represen'tstlfitoe pa rt" of tlie last and B the heel part and C the line of divisiom'th'e' line of division being an irregular line extemliug transversely across the last. The two parts of the last are provided with vertically disposed link kerfs D and l) in their respective ends and are connected by a link F mounted one end in the toe part and the other end in the heel part so that the front end of the heel part can be lifted and turned upwardly and rearwa rdly,
