To all whom it may concefn;

Be it known that I, HENRY A. DEIP, a resident of Grafton, in the county .of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improveproved means for firmly securing and hold'- ing in position a pair of bracket mountings without securing the latter to any other portion of the frame than the'top thereof.

The invention also includes brackets of improved constructionf ."In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a front elevation of my improved device shown in position on the upper portion of a Window frame, and Fig. 2 is a perspective view of one end thereof, slightly modified. Fig. 3 is a view similar to Fig. 2 illustrating a modification. Figs. {land 5 are sectional views illustrating the connections between the brackets and the plate-like holders.

In each instance the plate. is formed with three horizontal slots 12, 13 and 14, arranged one above the other as shown, with the metal between slots 13 and '14 bulged outwardly at 15, and the.

metal beneath slot 12 similarly bulged, as indicated at 16, thus forming a vertical passage which receives the downwardly bent rear portion 17 of bracket 10 which passes through the two upper slotsyas clearly shown inFIg; 4. Said bracket is also formed with downwardly extending front portion 18 which extends downward in front of bul e 15, with its lower extremity 18 entered in slot 12. The bracket is thus securely held and yet may be readily lifted and detached from plate 3. In like. manner, the down- .wardly extending rear portion 19 of pole bracket 11 extends downwardly through the slot-formed passage way, while the bracing arm 20 extends downwardly and backwardly from the front portion of the bracket, with'its lower extremity 20 bent to enter slot l2-with the lower extremity of part 19 overhanging extremity 20 and hold mg it from moving upward. Bracket 11 is provided with extensible arm 21, which may be either drawn outward or pushed back, according to the distance it 1sdesired to drape thecurtains from the window. Part '21 rests on the top of part 11, andeach of said parts is formed with backwardly'turned' keeper-forming clips 22, the clips of each part embracing the other part and holding them in sliding engagement.

In the modification of Fig. 3, shade. bracket 10 is formed with the right-angle rear part 23 adapted to move between the horizontal grooved form shown after s itting plate 3, as indicated at 25. This bracket may thus beadjusted as required for either longer or shorter shades.

With the bracket mountings or holders constructed as here shown they may be readily applied to and detached from a .,window frame without defacing the same.

I claim:'- a

1. In a curtain fixture the combination of a plate adapted to be secured to a window frame, the plate .having the horizontal slots 13 and 14 one above the other with the metal bulged outwardly between the slots, the

plate having a slot 12 spaced'downwardly from and in vertical line with slot 13, and'a ides 2.4, bent into the bracket having an outwardly, extending top,

portion with an. arm extending inwardly end downwardly from the outer end of the Wardly on arm 20 adjacent slot 12.

2. In a curtain fixture, the combination of a plate having Vertically separated horizontal slots 14, 13, and 12, the metal between the slots 13 and 14 being bulged and the metal beneath 'slot 12 also bulged, end a bracket having two downwardly extending arms 19 and 20, the extremity of arm 20 entered in the lowermost slot 12, and arm 19 passed downwardly through slots 14: and 13 with its extremity Wedging between the plate and arm 20 at a point ad1acent to slot 12.
