IMPROVEMENT IN WASHING-MACHINES.

The Schedule' referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, BARZILLAI B. BECKwrrH, of Rockville, in the county of Tolland, and State of Connecticut, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Washing-Machines; and I .declare the following to be afull and exact description thereof', reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked, thereon, forming a part of this speoication.

The same letters indicate the same parts.

The letter a designates an oblong (wooden) box, forming the body of the machine, made deeper at the end in which the spout z is inserted, that the water may b e readily drawn oi` when desired.

Into both sides of this box t, on the respective sides, the wooden side-pieces s s, which are readily removable out ofthe box.

They rest on the bottom of the box a, and extend from the shallower end to the roller-frame m, and abut against the roller-frame.

In th'e upper edges of these two side pieces are the three bearings, co, c1 c, and 02 c2, for the axest' t' of the washer b to turn in.

The letter rmJ designates the (wooden) roller-frame, which ts into the deeper end of the box a, and with the two sidepieces s s, just iills the sides of the box a lengthwise. Its upper end rises above the box a.

This roller-flame fm contains and holds the rollers x :t x :i: x x, made of Wood or other suitable material.

' The two sides of the roller-frame are connected at the back by the (wooden) Straps or cross-pieces m1 m1.

This roller-frame has at its lower front corners th'e notches m2, which t down upon the studs or pins n, which project from the sides of the movable bottom o, and hold said movable bottom in its place.

The movable bottom ois faced on its upper surface with zinc, or other suitable material, and is raised somewhat from the bottom of the vbox a by (wooden) ribs or slats attached to its vunder surface, running lengthwise of the movable bottom.

This movable bottom curves upward as it advances to meet the rollers x a: :t a: x x, that it may form a kind of continuous surface to and with them.

This movable bottom readily comes out of the box a when the roller-frame m and the side pieces s s are f taken out.
