TICKE T-PUNCH.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application led March 5, 1909.
Patented Aug. 3, 1909.
Serial No. 481,438.
T 0 all whom it may concern.'
Be it known that I, F RANK ANGERSTEIN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Newark, in the county of Essex and State of New Jersey, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Ticket- Punches, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to that class of ticket punches comprising handle members, punch and die, and a receptacle to receive andv hold the ticket punchings; and the objects of my improvements are to provide a receptacle for said purpose readily applied thereto, easily operated, and having a capacity to contain a large number of clippings. I attain these objects by the mechanism illustratecl in the accompanying drawing, in which- Figure l. is a front end vView of the ticket punch. Fig. 2. is a bottom view lengthwise' of the punch. Fig. 3. is a side View of the entire implement, cut away to show a sectional view of the receptacle die and punch. Fig. et. is a longitudinal top view of the punch.
Similar letters refer to similar parts, throughout the several views.
The handle members k and y', are pivoted at 0, and are caused to stand with jaws open normally, by the spring m; the member 7:, is cut away at r, to give a view of the operation of punching. The member y', is provided with projections p and c, the. latter' being detached from the casting, to facilitate the machine work in manufacturing; but is joined to said member by dovetail a and screw z' or pin, or by other suitable means. The said projections 72 c are provided with pivots (l CZ adapted to carry a cylindrical receptacle a, formed to lit between the projections 29 c and to rotate upon pivots Z d and to closely fit into a curved recess in the body of the member j.' The cylindrical receptacle a is provided with an oblong opening b lengthwise thereof, to receive the clippings when in operative position as in Fig.
3; or to discharge the clippings when rotated out of action, as in Fig. 2.
The member y', has a recess drilled for the purpose of holding a coiled spring g, adapted to carry and thrust forward a point f, and cause it to enter a countersink /L in cylinder a, for the purpose of locking the cylindrical receptacle in its operative position, under the punch q and die Z. The cylindrical receptacle may be rotated with the fingers, causing the point f to rise out of the countcrsink /L and permitting the turning thereof to any desired position.
It is obvious that'means may be employed to permanently lock and unlock the cylindrical receptacle, if so desired, without departing from my invention.
lVhat l claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is` p l. A ticket punch, comprising handle members, pivoted together, one member being provided with a punch, and the other with a die; the latter member having attached thereto, a rotatable cylindrical receptacle, adapted to receive and hold the ticket clippings.
2. In a ticket punch the combination of handle members and punch and die, with a rotatable cylindrical receptacle, adapted to receive and hold the ticket punchings, pivoted thereon, and having means for locking the same in operative position.
3. A ticket punch having a rotatable cy-` lindrica-l reservoir for the clippings, adapted to be held upon the handle members by pivotal means thereon, and provided with an opening therein to receive the clippings. and to discharge the same, and means for locking said cylinder in operative position; all substantially as set forth.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
FRANK ANGER STEIN'.
