I'JMPROVEMEN '1 IN COMBINED LAMP-WICK TRIMMER, CHIMNEY-CLEANER, AND LIFTER.
The Schedule referred co in these Letters Patent and making part 'of the same.
To all wlwm it may concern.-
Be it known that I, CHARLES M. TYLER, of Indianapolis, in the county of Marion, and State of Indiana, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in Lamp-Wick Trimmers, Chimney-Cleaners, and Lifters; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being bad to the annexed drawings, making a partbf this specification, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.
Figure 1 of the drawings is a side plan view of my device.
Figure 2 is a detail.
My invention has relation to devices for handling and cleaning chimneys of lamps; and 1 It consists, mainly, in constructing a useful instrument, by which such chimneys may be handled and cleaned, and combining therewith'a pair of shears, for trimming the wick of the lamp itself.
My instrument is well represented on fig.-l of the drawings, of which the letters A and B, respectively, are the ,upper and lower sections, or shears, pivoted together at the point 0.
The letter 0 represents pincers, formed by the,
toothed ends of the shears A and B, as shown, and is intended for use in clamping a. rag, sponge, or paper,
to be used in cleaning the lamp-chimney.
The letters D and E represent knives, or shears, attached to the sections A and B, and are intended for use in trimming the lamp-wick..
The letters G'and H are fingers, attached to the respective ends of sections A and B, in themanner shown, and are intended for use in handling the chimney, when the same is too'hot to be grasped by the hand, or whenever, for any other cause, it becomes des nesses.
