SHADE-BRACKET.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented July 20, 1909.
Application filed February 18, 1909. Serial No. 478,542.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY WITTMANN, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Cincinnati, in the county of Hamilton and State of Ohio, have made certain new and useful Improvements in Shade-Brackcls, of which the following is a specification.
This invention is an improvement in ourtain fixtures and has for an object among others to provide a simple novel construction by which the brackets may be readily applied and adjusted to suit any suitable length of curtain and then clamped in position; and the invention consists in certain novel constructions, combinations and arrangements of parts as will be hereinafter described and claimed.
In the drawing Figure 1 is a perspective view of the invention as in use, parts being broken away. Fig. 2 is a detail perspective View of the bracket su port. Fig. 3 is a de tail perspective view of the bracket, and Fig. l is a detail vertical section on about line l4: of Fig. 1. Fig. 5 is a detail view of the end bracket for use opposite that shown in Fig. 3.
The bracket support A has a back plate A, a clamping plate A upturned from the back plate and a cover plate or flange A projecting forwardly from the back plate and overlying the upper edge of the clamp ing plate, being spaced above such upper edge of the clamping plate to form a space A* sufficient to permit the passage of the cuff B of the bracket B between the cover plate A and said upper edge of the clamping plate A as will be understood from Figs. 1, 2 and 4 of the drawing.
As shown, and as preferred the back plate, clamping plate and cover plate are integral, being bent from the same plate of metal and may preferably be of spring metal so the clamping plate may be pressed by the screws O toward the back plate A to clamp the bracket B in any desired position when the said screws C are tightened and yet willspring back sufliciently to permit the convenient introduction of the bracket at the end of the bracket support and the adjustment of said bracket slidingly to any point along the bracket support.
The bracket B has a cover B embracing the upper edge of the clamping plate A and slidable therealong. This cover B underlies the cover plate or flange A and will be held thereby in engagement with the clamp ing plate. The screws C it will be noticed operate to secure the bracket support to the window frame D, and also operate to reinforce the clamping plate A and as a means for pressing said clamping plates toward the back plate in order to guide the cuff of the bracket between said clamping plate and the back plate in the operation of the invention.
It will be noticed that the cuff B has a base plate which underlies the cover plate and is held back of the clamping plate A and a front plate which overlaps the front face of the clamping plate when the parts are assembled as shown in Figs. 1 and 4 of the drawings. i
I claim 1. A curtain fixture substantially as herein described comprising a bracket support having a back plate, a clamping plate connected at its lower end with the back plate and extending upwardly therefrom with its upper edge free, and a cover plate overlapping the upper edge of the clamping plate, and a bracket having a base plateunderlying the cover plate and held back of the clamping plate, and a front plate overlapping the front face of the clamping plate, substantially as set forth.

A curtain fixture comprising a bracket support having a back plate, a clamping plate connected at its lower end with the back plate and extending upwardly therefrom with its upper edge free, and a cover plate overlapping the upper edge of the clamping plate, and a bracket having an arm and,also having a base plate underlying the cover plate and held back of the clamping plate, and means extending from said base plate between the upper edge of the clamping plate and the cover plate and movable between said cover and clamping plates in the direction of length of the bracket support and supportingthe bracket arm in advance of the clamping plate whereby the said bracket arni may be adjusted along the bracket support to the desired position.
