FERINND S. WOLDRIDG, Ol" BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.
Specification oi' Letters Patent.
Patented July 13, 1909.
Application ed April 22, 1909'. Seii'al No. 491,578.
To all 'whom it may concern:
Be it known that l, FenniNiiNi) S. WoLD- RIDGE, a citizen-of t-he United States, residing at Brooklyn, in the county ol Kings and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Display Cabinets 3 and l do declare the following to be a lull, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertaiiis to make and use the same. K
This invention i'elates to displa cabinets of that class which comprises a plurality of display drawers which are mounted bodily, one upon the other, in order that all of the drawers may be pulled out by one operation.
A further object is to provide limiting means for the drawers of such a nature that when pulled completel out they will be arranged in stepped re ation or with each drawer in advance of the next upper drawer in order that the goods in the several drawers may be equally well displayed.
With these and other objects in view, the
invention consists of certain novel features of consti'uction, combination and arrange-- ment of parts as will be more fully described and particularly pointed out in the appended claim.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a front elevation of the display cabinet with the glass iront raised; Fig. 2 is central vertical longitudinal section with the glass front down and with the drawers closed, Fig. 3 is a similar view with the drawers in their extreme outward vposition and the glass front raised Fig. 4 is a vertical transverse section taken on line Llmet of Fig. 2 and Fig. is a detail perspective of one of the drawers. in the embodiment illustrated the device comprises an approximately square raising, 1, provided at its top with a glass, 2, and with a front hinged section, 3, )rovided with a glass, fi, adapted to be folded upon the top of the casing or in position shown in. Fig. 3. plurality of display drawers, 5, are mounted .iralily, one upon the other, within the casing .so that when the lower drawer is pulled out the remaining drawers are carried with it. A lmrctolore explained the principal object ol' the inrcinion is to pr=pvide limiting means whereby when the drawers are pulled out to their extreme forward positions theyare arranged in stepped relation or with each i d rawcr extending in advance of the next u l per drawer so that the contents of all of tie drawers may be equally well displayed. To accomplish this the inner fz ce of each side member, 6, ol' the casing is provided with a series of longitudinal grooves, 7, 8 and 9 res cctivelyl which extend from the rear edge tiiereol' and beginning with-the top of said member, each groove beingmade somewhat longer than the next upper groove. The side pioces,'10, of the drawers are provided near their rear ends with lateral studs or pins, 11, which fit in the grooves of said side inembci's. it will thus be seen that in pulling out the drawers the lower drawer will extend the farthest to the front, the next up er drawer somewhat in the rearof the lower rawer and so on for all the drawers.
Fromy the fore oing description, taken in connection with t ie accompanying drawings, the` construction and operation of the invention will be readily understood without requiringa more extended ex lanation. h
Various changes in the crm, proportion and-the minor details of construction may be resorted to without' departing from the principle or. sacrificing any of the advantages of this invention,
Having thus described my invention, what l claim is A@ display cabinet of the class described comprising a casing, a series of sliding diawers mounted bodily, one upon the other, in the casing; means for limiting the forward movement of the drawers, a front section hinged to the to'i of the casing and adapted to swing upwari ly thereon, the hinged end. ot' said section being of greater width than its free end and adapted to rest upon the top of Vthe casing and forni a support when said section is raised. i
ln testimony whereof I have hereunto set .my hand in presence of two subscribing witmesses.
FERDINAND S, WOLDRIDGE.
