To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HEINRIOH ZwroKY, a citizen of the Relpublic of Switzerland, resid' mg at Schindel egi, Canton of Schwyz, in
Switzerland, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Weft-Replenishing l Mechanism for Looms; and I do hereby declare the following tobe a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention has for its object an apparatus for automatically changing or replacing the weft pirns in looms and comprises a pirn magazine, and a device for removing the p rns from the magazine and inserting these p rns in the shuttles. In devices of. this kind ltherto employed, the magazine and the mechanism or removing and inserting the pirns were independent of the lay, and were arranged on the front side of the loom. The insertion in the shuttle of a pirn withdrawn from the magazine had to take place at the moment at which the lay, in the normal working of the loom, had reached its front deadpoint position, and therefore the time for this insertion was extremely brief. If for any reason the lay reached this deadpoint position somewhat prematurely, or somewhat late, the pirn changing mechanism failed to work correctly.
In the mechanism Whichforms the subjectmatter of the present invention, the magazinc and the device for removing and insertmg the pirns, are mounted on the lay. In
movement for- Ward of the removing and inserting device to the lay, does not take place, nor to the shuttle while the la'ttcr rests in the shuttle box, so that a much longer time is at disposal for the insertion of the pirn.
The object of the invention is shown in one form of construction as an example in the l accompanying drawin s, Figure 1 being a section on the line A- of Fig. 2, and Fig. 2 a front elevation, while Fig. 3 is a detail.

This magazine forms a box, open above and below, rising obliquely to the front from the lay, the front and rear walls 1 having a spring action relativeto one another and to the upper aperture or mouth. 1 which is turned to the front and somewhat contracted. A catch 3 is mounted on the supporting arm 2, which catch is controlled by a spring 4. On the lay, a sector 6 (shown separately in Fig; 3) is located in such a way as to be pivotal on an axis 6, which sector has to right and left, on its up.- per end 7, forked'projections 8, 9 and on the side a pin 1 1.

20 is a spiral spring one end of which is attached to the sector 6 and the other to the lay. The movement of the sector, which this spring tends to produce, is limited by a regulating screw 21 which serves as a stop for the sector.

The mode of action of the pirn changing mecl ianism hereinbefore described is as follows? On the breakage of a thread, or the exhaustion of the weft thread, the rod 19,
.and by it the lever 18, are moved by the thread guard device, in the direction indicated by the arrow, which consequently lifts the rod 1.3. The pin 11 which otherwise can pass the rod 13, then encounters the forked end 12 of the rod, on tho moven'icnt of the lay into its front deadpoint position. By the pin 11 encountering the rod. 13, the sector 6 is swung out in: the direction indicated by the arrow and conveys .thcpirn carried. by the projections 8, 9 into the shuttle thereby pushing aside the catch 3, and expelling the pirn located in the shuttle, which drops out downward through an aperture in thelay.

catch 3 forms a guide for the p'irn, retained by'the projections 8 and 9, from the magazinc to the shuttle. In place of the two clamp disks 22 any other suitable device for holding the thread cnds may be provided, for instance a roller with a card clothing. The arrangement shown has however the advantage of great simplicity and it may he oasilyapplied to already existing looms. v
Having now particularly described and ascertained the nature of mysaid invention and in what manner the same is to he pcrformed, I declare that what I claim is:

sector also mounted on. the lay and having forked projections and means to actuate the sector, said sector and spring catch cooperatingto guide a pirn to the shuttle.
