To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that L'ARTHUR E. LINDNER, a citizen of the Empire of Germany, residing at New York, in the boroufrh of the Bronx, county and State of New Fork, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Gloves, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to an improved glove which is provided with finger-nail tips which impart a characteristic and ornamental appearance to the glove, and serve at the same time as finger-tip protectors; and the invention consists of a glove provided with finger-tips with imitation fingernails, which are constructed of metallic plates provided with a rim at the sides and lower end and perforations vhaving burs placed at the inside of 4the glove, and a plate of Celluloid in imitation of the fingernail placed on the outside of the glove and united by pressure with t-he rimmed and perforated plate, as will be fully described hereinafter and finally pointed out in the claims.

In the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 represents an elevation of the .outside of a glove with my improved finger-nail tips, Fig. 2 is a vertical transverse section through one of the tips on line 2, 2, Fig. 1, drawn on a larger scale, Fig. 3 is a vertical transverse section on line 3, 3, Fig. 2, and Figs. 4 and 5 are detail perspective views of the inside and outside plates of which the imitation fingernail is constructed.

Referring to the drawing, g represents a Aglove made of kid or any other leather or fabric. To the outer faces of the tipsfare applied imitation nails which are made of Celluloid, rubber, fiber or other suitable material, either in a color distinctive from the color of the glove or in the color of the glove, according to the taste of the wearer. They can also be covered with fabric of the same color as the glove. The finger-nail is made convexo-concave in transverse direction and rounded off at the ends.

The imitation nails arefirmly secured to the finger-tips by means -of a sheet-metal plate p of corresponding shape, which is also convexo-concave in transverse direction and rounded off at one end and provided Specification of Letters Patent.

with a raised rim c alon the sides and at the opposite end, and with holes that are punched through from the under-side in such a manner as to form burs 0. The sheetmetal plate is placed at the under-side of the tip-end of the finger-tip, the imitation nail-plate placed over the fabric of the finger at the outside of the same, and then united by clenchingV the rim of the inner plate lover the edge of the outer plate, as shown in Figs. l and 3. Simultaneously the burs 0 enter into the under-side of the nail-plate b and hold the same rigidly against shifting in longitudinal direction, as shown in Fig. 2.

The imitation finger-nails form a very .characteristic ornamentation for the glove and a protection for the tip-ends of the same as the rounded-0E edges of the nailplates extend over the tip-ends and prevent the wearing out of the same.

The nail-plates canbe made in contrasting colors or in the same color as the glove if a more subdued appearance is desired. The outer surface of the imitation nails may be provided with fleur-de-lis or other suitable ornamentation, which is pressed or embossed into the nail-plates.

The gloves with the improved finger-nail tips form an ornamental novelty in gloves of all kinds, but are mainly intended for use by ladies, the imitation finger-nails serving as protect-ors for the finger-tips and as preservers of the shape of the same.

Having thus described myv invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent: y

1. A glove provided at the outer ends of the finger-tips with separate rigid plates in imitation of finger-nails, and means for securing them in position on said finger-tips.
