lM PROVEMENT lN GUN-CAPS.
-Speeification forming part of Letters Patent No. 92,398, dated July 6, 1869.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, J 012m TALBO'IT, of Albany, in the county of Dougherty and State of Georgia, have invented a new and. valuable Improvement in Percussion-Gaps; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being bad to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.

3 is a bottom view, showing rubber ring. Fig.
4 is a top view of cap.
My-invention relates to gun-caps; and it consists mainly in manufacturing such caps with a novel and useful arrangement designed for the protection of the powder in the tube or nippleof the gun-lock, and also the fulminating-powder in the cap itself.
The letter A of the drawings represents the nipple of a gun-lock, and the letter B a cap arranged with fulminating-powder in the usual manner, except as hereinafter stated. I make an enlargement or recess in the bottom of this cap, as shown at D of the drawings, so as to form a riln'or groove adapted to receive the ring next mentioned.
The letter'c represents a ring of soft indiarubber or gum, or other substance impervious to water, which fits tightly in the recess D, v
and when placed on the nipple clasps the same tensely.
It will readily be perceived that by this arrangement the gunpowder in the nipple and the fulminate in the cap are protected from moisture so long as the cap remains on vthe tube, thereby rendering said cap of great utility to the soldier and the sportsman.
I do not claim broadly the device of lining percussion-caps with flexible material; but
