Be it known that 1, Jason JAooBsoN, a citizen of the United States of America, residing in New York, in the borough of Manhattan, county and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in sacristy Combination-Stands for Catholic Churches, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an improved ornamental sacristy combination stand for Catholic churches.
Heretofore the torches, censors, boats,-
holy-water pots, etc., after use were placed indiscriminately in a corner of the sacristy and suffered by careless handling, and were frequently not immediately ready for use when required.
The object of this invention is to furnish an ornamental stand on which these difierent articles are supported in good and regular order and in good condition so as to be instantly and conveniently available for use; and for this purpose the invention consists of a stand formed of upright legs, a lower platform provided with sockets, an upper platform provided with openings and sockets for the torches, and with incenseboats, and a center-pillar naving arms for suspending the censers. The upper plat form is provided with drawers for the charcoal and matches, and a bracket and a candle-holder for heating the charcoal ready for use in the censers.
In the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 represents a front-elevation of my improved sacristy combination stand, 2 a sideelevation, and 3 a plan-view of the same.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts throughout the figures.
Referring to the drawing, a represents a stand which comprises four upright-s legs a and a center-pillar b. On the corner-legs are supported two platforms, a lower platform (Z provided with sockets 6Z1 for receiving the lower ends of the torches e and an upper platform (Z provided vertically above the sockets in the lower platform with openings through which the torches extend when they are inserted in position after use. The
upper platform is also provided at opposite sides of the center-pillar Z) with incenseboats f. Provision is made for six torches, two at the front-part of the platform and four at the rear-part of the platform; but
sockets and openings'in the platforms may be arranged so as to provide for supporting a larger or smaller number of torches.
To the upper end of the center-pillar Z) is applied a horizontal crosspiece or arm if having hook-shaped ends from which censers g are suspended by means of rings 6 and chains Z9 recesses being cut in the ends of the upper platform for providing the required space for said chains. The upper end of the pillar Z) is surmounted by an ornamental cross.

Sidewise of the charcoal drawers is arranged a perforated bracket 2', and below the same a laterally swinging candleholder i is mounted on one of the legs a Immediately below the upper platform a pot 7) for holy water is suspended from a hook m.
The charcoal is removed from its drawer by tongs t and placed on the bracket 2' where it is ignited by the candle below the same and made to glow before being placed in the censers.
The entire stand permits the replacing of the torches, boats, censers and holy-water pot after use in such a manner that they are always ready for use when required for the service.
The device forms an ornamental and convenient stand for Catholic churches. It can also be used for services in Episcopalian and other churches.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
1. A sacristy combination stand comprising upright legs, a lower platform provided with sockets for the torches, an upper platform provided with holes for the torches vertically above the sockets in the lower platform, a center-pillar, and arms at the upper part of said center-pillar for suspending the censers.
2. A sacristy combination stand comprising upright corner-legs, a lower platform pr vided with sockets for the lower ends of the torches, and an upper platform provided with holes for the torches vertically above the sockets in the lower platform.
3. A sacristy combination stand comprising upright corner-legs, a lower platform provided with sockets for the lower ends of the torches, an upper platform provided with holes for the torches vertically above the sockets on the lower platform, sliding drawers in the upper platform, a stationary perforated bracket, and a swinging candleholder below the same for lighting the charcoal for the censers.
4:. A sacristy combination stand comprising upright corner-legs, a lower platform provided with sockets for the lower ends of the torches, an upper platform provided with holes for the torches vertically above the sockets in the lower platform and with E l 4 l t 1 1 a hook for suspending the holy-water pot, sliding drawers in the upper platform, a stationary perforated bracket, and a swinging candle-holder below the same for lighting the charcoal for the censers.
