Specification of Letters Patent.

To all whom ttmay concern:
Be it known that I, FRANcisoo MAssrLLoN, en ineer, acitizen of Belgium, residing at 2" Ca e de San Lorenzo No. 19, Mexico city, Federal district, Republic of Mexico, have invented new and useful Improvements in Machines for Molding Tubes, of which the following is a specification.
'My invention relates toimprovements in machines for moldin all kinds of tubes, and the objects of my mvention are, first, to manufacture tubes by means of centrifugal force without employing moldsof sand or clay, second to produce tubes without cracks caused by the contraction of the material when it cools, third to provide tubes more evenly made. I attain these objects by the mechanism illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1. is a vertical view of the machine. Fig. 2. is a top view of the-same. Numeral 1 designates the divided tubular mold mounted onrollers 2, geared between the annular ribs 3, provided with the object of establishing uniformity to the rotation of the. mold when action is transmitted to the rectangular bar 4, from the adjustable motorwheel 5; and 6 designates the movable arms in which the up er rollers 2 are placed said arms bein lifted efore the u per alf of the mold is ta en off'by the hoo s 7, in order to remove the tube.
Numeral 8. represents the funnel through which the cast material is led to the extremity of the mold, in which it will spread out in an even thickness under the centrifugal force by the rotation of the mold.
Numeral 16 represents a convenient arran ement for tightly closing the two halves of t e mold before the casting starts. For the purpose of avoiding cracks in the cou ling of the tube 15 I employ annular cus ions 9 of clay, loam, terra cotta or any other suitable material, over which cushion I place a thin metallic plate 10 folded in such a way that the two extremities overlap each other, to allow for expansion or contraction. At the end of the-tubular mold is the stop or 11 with perforations 12 which coincide wit perforationsin the surrounding annular ring '13 of clay or loam, allowing gases and air to escape from the interior,- and still further around the ring is a thin metallic plate 14 having its ends overlapping and similar to the plate 10 and with the same object of making allowance for contractions of the cast material by cooling off. Plate 14 is shown in Figs. 7, 8 and 9. This is of greatest importance as formerly the casting of tubes in metallic molds prescnteddifiiculties in turn- .ing out a product without ruptures, but with this present invention it will be overcome; though the first tube cast might not be as perfect as those made when the mold has been heated.
I claim:
1. A mold for molding tubes, comprising two semi-cylindrical portions, means for connecting said portions together, circular tracks formed on said portions, and a series of rollers engaging in each of said tracks, the top roller being removable so as to permit the removal of one of the mold portions, substantially as described. 2. A mold comprising a cylindrical body portion, a sto per for closing one of the ends of said cylim rical portions, an annular ring of clay forming art of said stopper, and a metallic expansi le strip surrounding said annular ring, substantially as described.
3.. A rotating mold for casting tubes by centrifugal force, comprising a stopper for,
closing one end of the mold, a metallic expansible strip or ring formed in the interior of the mold adjacent one end, and a cushion of clay surrounding the exterior surface of the said strip, substantially as described.
