ASSIGNOR TO THE CONNOR GORHAM COMPANY, CORPORATION OF ILLINOIS. I
RAZOR-BLADE HOLDER.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANK C. GORHAM, a citizen of the United States", residing at Chi-. cage, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Razor-BladeHolders, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to aholder for wafer razor blades and has for its object to provide certain new and useful improvements hereinafter more fully set forth.
It is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein Figure 1 is a plan view of the holder containing a blade in position for stro ping; Fig. 2, a back elevation of the same; I ig. 3,
a cross sectionon-line 3+3 of Fig. 2 Fig. 4, shows the device unclamped, the ends so mated with the blade 1n position to Sc clam ed. I Li e parts are indicated by the same lettors in all the figures. i
A is one clamping end, and, B the other clamping end formed upon and referably integral with the handle C. e whole preferably constitutesa single strip ofs'pririg metal. On the end B are struck up the-projections D and in the end A are formed the opposed openings- E. These together con thumb part as 'stitute the securing devices. Each of these ends is preferably bentalon'g'one edge to form semi-cylindrical portions A B respectively. They together form a guard chamberfor the edge of the blade not being subject to the'stropping process.
At some point on the handle is mounted any kind of catch to hold the-two clamping. ends together. I have shown one as consisting of the loop F mounted so as to swing on the pivot G and presenting, when in position to hold the clamping ends together," a indicated at H, Fig. 1. The dimensions of the guard chamber are such .as to bring the edge of the blade in roper relation to the strop, as indicated in Fig. 3, Where the stro is indicated by the letter J.

up parts on the clainpin end. The catch is positioned so as to ma 'e the pressure between the clamping ends as nearly as possible uniform along the length of the blade clamped so as to hold it securely.
It will be understood to be taken as diagrammatic. I
1 do not wish to be limited to the exact details shown and described for obvious modifications could be irit of my invention.
The use an operation. of my invention are sufficiently clear from what has already been said. The holder is in Fig. 4, whereupon the the lower clamping end, the lugs, and one of its' the semi-cylindrical part prpljecting beyond the ed on 0 en as indicated b ade is laid upon ed es l in within A and the other e of such clamping By pressing upon t e handle the other clampin end will be brought down upon the first an thelugs which ass through the holes in the blade will s ightly enter the holes in the clamping ends B. The catch is now turned on its pivot to hold the two clamping ends in this present to the'thumb a caring as indicated in Fig. l. -The blade is now in position to ge stropped. in themanner suggested in ig. 3.
I claim:
As a newarticle of manufacture, a razor blade holder comprising an elastic handle of flat spring metal, its two portions bent and separated from each other to form a handle proper, its ends terminating in blade holding clamping sections which tend to separate which are provided with blade holding devices and shaped so as to form a guard chamber for one of the edges of the razor, and a movable catch to hold the two parts of the handle together when the blade is in posi-' tion to be clamped.
