' ,pupi-nga@ misa augura,
. Be it known that Lal-linonnn-nr 'Villajilmrnam-alcitizen ofy the United States, residing'- inthe'cityand countyof Philadelphia; State of `Peniisylvania,have inventedv a new and yuseful (lgnihined Gas B urner and y'Water- Heaterrfi" Ranges, ofwhichwthe following isA a` specification.
My invention relates -to` aine'w and useful gas burner and water heater for useonfgas;
ranges whereby when the range isbeing used for cooking .purposes or. otherwise .thewater.
will he heated.`
vItftllitlaer consists vof a burner )forf gas. ranges which has a supply! pipe connected with the gas burner and a plurality of communicating chambers around the burnerfinto which water'canbe conducted, saidfburner and-water chambers `being formed integral. j ,Itjffnrther consists of other novel features of constructionall -as `will kbe .hereinafter fully setforth. i Y
Figure 1 represents a I lanview ofaplurality of my combined Fig. 2 represents a sectional View offone ofv the burners onVlinem-, Eig'. l, withthe pipes removed. `Fig'. 3 represents a .sectional Similar Vnumerals .of yreference indicate corf respondingrparts in 'the-Iigures.
Referring to the drawings My invention is .designed to providepthat water will .always be heated whenever, the? range is being ,used whereby it will be understoodtliat when the .range is being .usedv for .cooking it will at.; thel saine tnne'heatthe water.
In the drawingsyI- haveshown aforrn for Y carrying out my invention which .IVhave found in practice opera-tes successfully but it will be understood` thatchanges `may-be `made in theparts,` `the arrangement of the 4 i same `ma y be varied and, other instrumentalities may-be employed ywhichwill come Within the scope of my `invention and I dos not C f therefore desire to ybe `limited in every `in-V e stance to the exact construction. as "herein shown and described but ldesire to make such changes as 1n ay `beI necessary;
burners with the pipes for connecting `the same with a suitable supply .of gas orfwater but it will be understoodtliat the other parts necessary for showing a complete andoperative range havebeen omitted for the sake `of clearness of `illustration the outline` of the v urnersandwwater heater 'showing the-.same suitably connected. `1

frame or bodyof. the range being-shown in dottedflines Fig. 1^,` Ywhich will 'give the `sub- Ystantialposition of the burners with respect to 4the range. y k l designates a combined Iburner andvvater heater formed preferably of a circular body 2 forming, an annular chamber 3 therein `which;preferably has thewings or off-set portions 4 of thebody extending inwardly at intervals around the .body 2fforming chambers et. conununicatin vwith the annular chamber and `into whic gthe water is adapted to be conducted, Between the annular chamber 3 and `between the chambers 4 extends a web 5 which is preferably integral 'with the bodyand is ufV any suitable thicknessl and formed on said web are the openings 6` form ing .the burners proper, Connected with or forming part of .the web, 5 .is the downwardly-extendingpipe 7, itj being noted that thesaid-web 5 in yWhichare the gas burners and the body portion 2p of the burner are preferablyformed integral.
8 designates a disk which is. preferablyl vdish-shaped and which is provided 'with a Vsuitableopening adapted Yto receive .7, said.diskghaving4 connected or1int` ai ytherewith anga's andpair inlet pipe 9 `w lich is adaptedto be suitably connected with a suitable source of Vgas andy air supply to form .the Bumsenl Haine. `The'upper edge ofthe disky is lprovided with n a flange 10 which, is adapted to seatashonlder 11 formed on the wlowerwallof the body 2 so that said `disk `8 closely engages the 4body and forms afgas `chamber .between'isaid body` and vsaid web with which chamberA the `openings 6 communicateand any ,improper escape of the gasand ,airdirected .through pi 9 into the chamber between the `disk 8 aneth'eburner plate -6 willv be` prevented by the engagement of the parts.
' l Anywsuitable nieansfor holding the plate y 1n posit-ion may beV employed and in the `drawings I havershown thevlower yend of the pipe '4'. threaded as at. 12 and the mit 13 mounted onsaidpipe which canbe'screwed .up against a suitablewaslier 14 for holding l v the `partsin proper position. In the drawings I have onlyI shown .thel- A suitablepor'tion of the web 5 is cut away `as at 15 .providing openings lead-ing to the atmosphere which `serve as air Vents and `which are more clearly seen in Fig. 3.
16 `designates a supply or inlet opening in the .body Q'which is adapted toYbe connected with a suitable pipein order that rthe water ters Patent, is
may be fed into the water chamber', and 17 designates a discharge opening adapted to be connected with a suitable pipe for dis. charge of the water from the water chamber. I preferably mount the burners in the manner shown in Fig. 1 in which 18 designates a waterpi e connected with the supply opening 16 o the first burner and connect th'e discharge opening 17 of the first burner with l inlet 16 of the next adjacent burner by means of a. pipe 19 and so on around the gas range, 2O designating the final discharge pipe of the series which conducts the water to any suitablepoint.
21 designates the gas pipes which are counected with the gas inlet pipe' 9 of the burners.
l/Vater will be directed from a suitable supply through pipe 18 into the water chamber and all the burners having been ignited the water will first be heated in the first burner then passed to the next and so on around the range being further heated until it finally passes from the pipe 20 to a suitable point..
It will of course be understood that if all of the burners are not ignited that the water will be heated in the burners that are lighted and will pass through the others in the manner of the usual hotwater circulation. It will be further understood that the extensions 4 of the body 2 may be dispensed with in some instances inpwhich event I provide the annular chamber 3 with a web 5 therebetween in which are the burners proper so thatl the water-in the chamber will be thoroughly heated.
F rom the above it will be evident that I have'a combined burner and water heater in which' I provide a water chamber and a burnerwhich is adjacent the water chamber and which if desired has portions thereof extending between extensions of the water chamber so that the water'will be very thorougily heated each time that the range is use It will be seen that the burner and water chamber are preferably integral or connected so the same may be removed and replaced by another burner by simply unscrewing the pipe connection and it will be further understood that if desired I may introduce the water or the gas in a different manner from that shown in the drawings it 'only being necessary to supply the water and the gas in any suitable manner.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Let- 1..` In a device of the character described, an annular water chamber with integral web I and depending tube, said webhaving open ings therethrough, and a gas chamber formed beneath said web and receiving said tube and secured to said water chamber.
2. In a device of the character described, an annular water chamber, a web integral therewith and having openings therethrough, and a gas chamber secured beneath said water chamber, said water chamber having air vents in said web beyond the periphery of the gas chamber.
3. In a device of the character described, an annular water chamber, a web integral therewith and having gas burners therein, and a removable plate forming a gas-tight gas chamber with the walls of the chamber and web.
4. In a device of the character described, an annular water chamber, a web integral therewith and having gas burners therein, a removable plate forming a gas-tight gas chamber with the walls of the water chamber and web, and means for holding said plate in proper position.
"25. In a device of the character described, a water chamber, a web integral therewith having gas burners therein, a pipe connected with said web, a plate movably mounted on said pipe and forming a gastight chamber with the walls of said water chamber and said web, and means for conducting gas and air into said chamber.
. In a device of the character described,
a water' chamber having wings extending inwardly therefrom and gas burners integral with said chamber and extending between said wings, said burners having air vents outside the periphery of the same.
7. In a device of the character described, a water chamber, wings extending inwardly therefrom, a depending tube and a web integral with said chamber and said wings extending therebetween and having gas burners therein, a plate having an'opening receiving said tube and suitably supported and forming a gas chamber, and means for conducting gas and air into said chamber.
8. In a device of the character described,
,a water chamber, inlet and outlet openings therefor, gas burners integral with said water chamber, a plate forming a gas chamber, means embodying a tube integral with the water chamber for supporting said plate in proper position, and means for conducting air and gas into said gas chamber.
