WALTER T. FLING, OF ST. JOSEPH, MISSOURI.
FUR/NACE-BURNER.
Be it known that I, WALTER T. FLING, a citizen of the United States, residing at St. Joseph, in the county ofBuclianan and State of Missouri, have invented new and useful Improvements in Furnace-Burners, of which the following is a specification. This invention relates to furnace burners,
burning natural gas and heating urnacesr One of the principal objects lof the invention is to rovide asectional burner which can be rea ily placed within the fui'nace before tliesections are connected together and after the sections have'beeirplaced in the furnace they may be quickly connected together to form a substantially circularlnu'ner having a series of inlet openings in the under Another object of the invention is to rovide a burner of the class referred to W iich shall be simple in construction and efficient in o eration.` L
'l iese .and other objects may vhe attained by means of the construction illustrated vin the accompanying drawing, in which:-
Figure 1 is a central vertical section through a furnace burner .made in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the upper member or top oi the burner. Fig. 8 is a detail section showing the manner of securing the top to the hollow inner ring. Fig 4 is a perspective view of two sections of the hollow inner ring. Fi 5 is a similar View of two sections of thease.
Referring to the drawing for a' more particular description of my invention, the nuineral 1 designates each of the sections ofthe are made in duplicate of identical construction a descriptionof one will serve for all. In the present instance there are four of these sections and each consists p f'a one-fourthsectionalpl'ate Ahftvirngi; .upii one end a lug 2 and uponl the opposite end an upwardly ex tending boss Stor the lug 2 upon the next adextendsaroiind the 'inner edge' of the section 1.y Formed on ,the under side of the base platel is 'a 170585, said boss having an inlet opfning .6` therein for-the gas. boss 9 through which the attaching screw 10 passes. A downwardly extending inner wall- 11 is provided on each section and an outer 60 wall 12 provided with jet openings 13. The lower edge of the wall 11 engages the roove in the bead 4. The top 14 is made in ialves and one of said halves is provided with a erforation 15 through which the attaching olt 16 passes. The screws 1.0 pass through holes 17 in the top. The outer side iianges 18 are' provided with outlet openings 19. f
From the foregoing it will be obvious that afurnace b urner made in accordancewith my invention can be set up within'aJ furnace owing'to the fact that it is made in sections and the gas Will be confined Within the burner until it becomes thoroughly heated when the heatedgases will escape through the jet openings 13 and' out through the outlet openings 19 into the furnace. The current of air. which'is taken into the burner and mingled with gases serves to force the flame out Ythrough the outlet against the/walls of the furnace, thus distributing the heat' morewidely andgiving a more'intense heat.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new, ist- A furnace burner comprising a base having a grooved rib, said base being made in sections and provided Withmeans for connecting said sections together, a hollow inner ring made in sections and having an inner Wall tted into said grooved rib and providedf with an outer wall having jet openings therein, perforated bosses upon the upper surfacel of said ring sections and a two part cover pro-- vided with means for connecting said parts andan annular outer -vyall provided with out-` 9 5 lett openings.
In testimony whereof I aHiX my signature in presence of two witnesses.
