i Application fileddanu'ary 6,
To al 'whomfit may concern:
Be it hnown'that I, Ros R. MCGnEGoR, a
ing'ton, in the county of Tipton and State of Tennessee, have 'invented certain new and useful Improvements in Trusses; and I do hereby'declarethe following to be a full, clear; and exact: description of the invention, such as,wil enable.'otliersskilled in the art towhich itd appertains to' make and. use the same. y -My invent-onrela'tes to trusses for hernia, etc., and has for its object to provide a simple and inexpensive device of this nature which is adjustahle to suit various requirements and is perfectlyT fitted for the purposes for which itis designed. I
The inventior; consists in the feature of construction and combinat-ions of parts hereinafter descrhed and specifi'ed in the claims.
In the acconipanying drawing illustrating the pre-ferred emhodiment of my invention: Figure l is a perspect-ive view of the truss. Fig. 2 is an enlarged section through the clamping disks and hands and strips arranged between them. Fig. 3 is a plan view section thereof. Fig. is a cross section, and Fig. 6 is a detailed view of an attachment for use in place of the pad-carying strips.
Referr'ing-more 4; fzirtieula ly to the drawing, 1 and 2 designate thtruss-bands of rsilient strips. Said hands are curved and each isprovidedv with perforations 1a, 2a respectively in one of its ends. Said perforations are engaged by a screw pin or bolt 5. Also mounted on said in or holt are two short curved resilient strlps 6 and 7, each carrying a compression pad 8 and 9, respectively, and having a series of perforations Ga, and 7a, respectively, any one of which may be engaged by said pin. The are of the concavity and-convexity of said disks is of a smaller radius than the curva'ure of said hands and strips. The ends of said hands 1 and '2 and strips 6`and 7 project siightly beyond the edges of the disks whereby they are clamped by said edges when said disks are drawn together by the pin 8.
It will be observed that the construction and arrangement ofthe hands and pads is such that said pads exert pressure .upward as well as backward. This pressure may be increased or' lessened by adjusting the screw pin to draw the disks closer together or sepe'f Specifieation of Letters Patent.

ter hands. The strips 6 and 7 may be adjusted independently, that is, one-may be made long and the other short or both he adjusted the same length as will best suitrequirements.
VEach pad is generally ellipticall in Shape and is concave near the center on the side next to the body while the outer portion or edge of said side is convex or rounded. The lower end 12 is left full to give the necessary support and the outside edge 13 which fits in one of the groins is made thin, as shown, the advantages of which will be apparent to those skilled in the art.
The strip 14 carrying a cup 15 for use in the treatment of prolapsus may be substituted for the pad-carrying strips 6 and 7.
The hands l and' 2 are not long enough to bear upon the spine but hold themselves in place by reason of their resiliency.
I claim:
1. In a truss, the' combination with resilient hands which are Curved in opposite directions, of a resilient strip bowed away from the body and carrying a supporting device, and means to secure said strip to said hands which also serves for connecting said hands together.
2. In. a truss, the combination, with resilient hands, and resilient curved strips bowed away from the body' and carrying pads, of a pair of dislrs and means to adjustably secure said strips andibands between said disks.
3. In a truss, the combination, with resilient Curved hands and resilient curved strips .carrying pads, of a pair of concavo-convex disks, and means to secure said strips and' having a less radius than the curvature of llb said strips and bands, and means to. secure said strips and hands between said d'isks.
5. In a truss, thevcombination, with resilient curved bands, each havm a perforation therem, and resilient curve strips carrymg pads, each of said strips having a series of perforatons therein, of a pair of disks, and a set screw passed throu h said disks, the
perforatons in saidban s, and certain of perforations therein, of a pair of concavoconvex disks, and a set screw passed through said disks, the perforations in said bandsand certain of the perforations in said strips for the-purpose specified 7. In a truss, the combination, withvresilient curved bands having buttons o'n the ends for fastening a suitable connecting piece, of a resilient Vcurved strip carrying a supportin device, and means to fasten'said strip an hands together in proper position.
' 8. In a truss, the combination, with resilient curved hands, and resilient Curved strips carrying pads, of a pair of'disks and means to adjustabl npwardly near said 'disks for the purpose 9. In a truss, the combination, with supportino' bands, of a .pair of resilient .strips depending from said bands and bowed away from the body, means to clamp the ends of said strips which are connected to the bands whereby the lower endsof -the strips are pressed upward and rearward, and a pair of pads, each O'enerally elliptical in Shape and having its side next to the body concave, the inner edge of each pad being thinner than its outer edge and its lower end fuller than.
its upper end for the purposes specified,
disks, said bands being offset In testimony whereof, I aflix my signature, w
in presence of two witnesses. A
RoB RoY MGGREGOR.
