Description

N eluded Stam @anni @twine i Letters Patent No. 90,985, dated Jmte 8, 1869.
IMPROVED BABY-JUMPER.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom 'it may concern Be it known that we, WILLIAM BERG and MATHIAS STEPHAN, of Canton, in the county of Stark, and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Baby-Jumpers; and that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, making a part of this specication, in which- Fignre 1 represents a perspective view of the jumper.
Figure 2 represents a longitudinal vertical section through the same.
Similar letters of reference, where they occur in the separate figures, denote like parts of the contrivance in both.
` Our invention relates to a baby-jumper, in which the lever and spring-seat have au adjustment in their supports, or fulcra, and are connected toa leaf-spring,
by a yielding link, as will be explained,
To enable those skilled in the art to make and use our invention, we will proceed to describe the same with reference to the drawings. v
A represents a base, or: frame, upon which the bahyjumper is arn nged, said frame being so made as to rest firmly upon the floor or other smooth or even surface.
At the front part of the frame there is arranged and firmly secured a support, B, through an opening in the top of which is placed the lever C, whiohhas, uponits long arm, a seat, D, and its short arm is connected by a link, E, to a leaf-spring, F, that is fastened to the base A, and projects ltherefrom, as shown in the drawlngs.
Upon the under side of that portion of the lever C that is to rest upon the supports, or fulcra B, there is a notched plate, e, which can be shifted and supported upon the bearer B, and thus .regulate the Weight in the seat D to the force of the spring.
The spring we have is composed of two leaves, and is fastened to the base at b b. There may be more than two leaves, and one may serve a very good purpose, but we prefer two.
On the end of the lever -O is placed, by way of ornament, al horse head, G, and the link E is united to this ornament.V The linkmust he yielding, so that it will work in connection with the spring, whether the leverseat be. moved forward or back in its bearer B, to adapt the weight in the seat to the capacity of the spring.
Reinsc c, extend from the horses headto the seat D, though these are not essential to the machine.
Having thus fully described our invention,
What we claim therein as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The combination of the base, bearer, notched plate, lever, link, and spring, arranged and operating together, substantially'in the manner and for the purpose herein described and represented. y
WILLIAM BERG. Witnesses: MATHIAS STEPHAN.
