Specification Letters Patent.
Application filed August 4, 1908. Serial No. 446,928.
the object of the invention being to provide a si rnple contrivance for holding tickets, pro- VlSlOIl being made in a simple mannerwhereby the tickets may be ejected or projected from the ticket case, one at a time, so as to be easily grasped between the thumb andforefingerand removed.
One of the main objects of the present invention is to construct a ticket holder in such manner that a number of tickets may be readily inserted in the holder in a convenient and expeditious manner, avoiding the necessity of inserting the tickets individually or one at a time.
With the above and other objects in view, the nature of which will more fully appear as the description proceeds, the inventlon consists in the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts as herein fully described, illustrated and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings :Figure 1 is a perspective view of a ticket holder embodying the present invention. Fi 2 is a similar view showin the slide an uppermost ticket, projecte Fig. 3 is a cross section through the same. Fig. 4 is a longitudinal section thereof. Fig. 5 is a longitudinal section with the members in'the position illustrated in Fig. 2.
The ticket case is in the form of a shallow rectangular box or receptacle corresponding substantially in size and roportion to the tickets to be contained t erein. The box comprises a top 1 and-bottom 2, ends 3"and sides 4. and may be all in one piece, iffdesired. At one end, the top 1 is cut-awa or in other words, the top 1 terminates s ort of one end of the box or case as best shown in Fi s. 1 and 2 and the sides 4 are also slight y cut away or notched as shown at 5 for an equaldistance from the end to form a corner orifice or rabbet, the object of which is to facilitate the insertion and removal of the ticket and particularly the insertion of a fed forwar number or batch of tickets in one operation thus doin away with the necessity of inserte ing the tic ets in the case one at a time.
Just beneath the top 1 of the case there is arranged a slide 6 in the form of a late as Patented Jan. 5, 1909.
Wide as the box or case will admit o: and of a length approximately equal to the length of the top 1 so that said slide may recede entirel presse back by means of a button or knob 7 the shank of which Works in a slot 8 corresponding lengthwise of the topof the case, sai button being connected with the slide 6 and the latter bein when the knob or utton 7 is pressed in a corresponding direction.
The rear edge of the slideor late 6 is turned" downward in the form 0 a lip or flange 9 to engage behind the uppermost ticket; a number of which are engaged at 10. The forward or advance edge of the slide 6 is cut away to form a finger notch 11 to facilitate grasping the projecting edge of the upipermost ticket between the thumb and forenger as will be readily understood'by inspecting 2. In this wa the ticketsare one at a time y the operation of a slide 6, the tickets being fed toward the top of the case by means of a two-armed spring which is;fastened centrally at 12 to t e bottomof the case, the arms 13 and 14 of the spring extending in opposite directions and inclining upward so as tobear against the tickets superimposed therein. The spring arms 13 and 14 are practically as wide as the case itself so as to form an effective yielding support for the batch of tickets urging the same toward the top of the case as they are successively fed therefrom from the flange 6 in the manner above described.
-- The body of the holder or case may, if desired, be formed of celluloid or other transparent material and in addition to its adaptabilit for holding car tickets and the like, it may e used for car g business cards, visiting cards and the like.
I claim: v
A ticket case in the form of a rectangular box or receptac'le having a corner orifice at one end thereof formed by terminating the top of the box short of one end thereof and notching or cutting away the opposite sides moved back and forth.
of the box for a oorrespondin distance, a with a finger notch, substantially as detwo-armed spring arren ed in t e bottom of scribed. the box to ress the tie ets toward. the top In testimony whereof I aifix my signature thereof, an a finger-o erated slide working in presence of two witnesses.
just beneath the top 0 the box and adapte JAMES J. ONEIL. to be rojected across the discharge orifice, Witnesses: said slide being rovided at one end with a W. F. PoA'r, ticket-engaging p and at the opposite and Mrs. W. F. PUAT.
