Definitions
- My invention relates to improvements in pins, and the object of my invention is to provide a cheap and effective means for securing an engaging point to a badge or similar device. I accomplish this object by the device illustrated in the accompanying drawings in which Figure 1 is the obverse side of a badge blank and Fig. 2 is an edge section of the device complete.
- a lip b in any desired manner, preferably by permitting a sufficient part of the metal of which the badge is constructed to remain at the upper art of the badge to form the lip.
- Two paral el cuts, 0 and cl are formed in the lip b and the part b between the cuts 0 and d is pressed outwardly to permit the pin 6 to be assed under the pressed out section b and through the cuts 0 and d.
- the part 9, shown below part bl, in Fig. 1, and above part b in Fig. 2, is pressed-out so as to give ample room to the head 6 of the pin.
- the lip b is then bent down behind the badge a,
- pin c will lie approximately parallel to the badge a.
- Pin c is securely held in place and against movement by reason of its head e being engaged by the bent over part f, of lip b, which is at right angles to badge a, and prevents outward movement thereof.
- a lip integral with said badge and forming an extension thereof, said lip being bent outwardly at right angles to said badge and then being bent downwardly to lie parallel therewith, said lip adjacent its free end being formed with a pair of parallel slits with the material between said slits pressed inwardly, a pin having a head, passed through said slits and under said pressed-in material between the slits, the head of said pin engaging said part of the lip at right angles to the badge to secure the same against outward movement.

Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed October 5, 1907. Serial No. 396,019.
Patented Dec. 15, 1908.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, J ULIUS OHEIN, a citizen of the United States, residing at the borough of Manhattan, in the city of New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Pins, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in pins, and the object of my invention is to provide a cheap and effective means for securing an engaging point to a badge or similar device. I accomplish this object by the device illustrated in the accompanying drawings in which Figure 1 is the obverse side of a badge blank and Fig. 2 is an edge section of the device complete.
Similar letters refer to similar parts throughout the several views.
Upon a badge or similar device a, I secure a lip b in any desired manner, preferably by permitting a sufficient part of the metal of which the badge is constructed to remain at the upper art of the badge to form the lip. Two paral el cuts, 0 and cl are formed in the lip b and the part b between the cuts 0 and d is pressed outwardly to permit the pin 6 to be assed under the pressed out section b and through the cuts 0 and d. The part 9, shown below part bl, in Fig. 1, and above part b in Fig. 2, is pressed-out so as to give ample room to the head 6 of the pin. The lip b is then bent down behind the badge a,
so that the pin c will lie approximately parallel to the badge a. Pin c is securely held in place and against movement by reason of its head e being engaged by the bent over part f, of lip b, which is at right angles to badge a, and prevents outward movement thereof.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is:
In combination with a badge, a lip integral with said badge and forming an extension thereof, said lip being bent outwardly at right angles to said badge and then being bent downwardly to lie parallel therewith, said lip adjacent its free end being formed with a pair of parallel slits with the material between said slits pressed inwardly, a pin having a head, passed through said slits and under said pressed-in material between the slits, the head of said pin engaging said part of the lip at right angles to the badge to secure the same against outward movement.
In testimony whereof, I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses, this third day of October, 1907.
