Be it known that l, .lonx J. Wurraema, a citizen oi the llnited States, residing at (anton, in the county of Stark and St ate of Ohio, have invented a eertaiu :ie and useful (onerete iteint'oreement, the same being illustrated and deseribed, but not claimed, in my applieation l'or Letters Patent tiled Der-em ber Bil, 1007, Serial No. 407,72 3, ol' whit-h ap plieation this one is a divisional part, and of whirh invention the following is a speei'liea tion. t
The invention relates to a metallic reint'orrement for a eonerete beam wherein a main longitudinal metallie n'iember is employed in ornear the lower portion oi the beam, to which main member separate subordinate members are eonneeted at internals apart and are inclined upward in various dirertions as the tension members of a truss toward the upper portion of the beam; and the objeet. ol' the imention to provide a reinl'oreement \Vllit'li ,an be conveniently made and put in plate as the work progresses and during such making the subordinate members (am he loeated, inelined and arranged with reference to each other, in any desired manner best suited to the respe'etive parts of the beam and the varying requirements ot' eonstruetion. A prel'erred manner of disposing the free ends of the wires is to incline them in slightly diverging directions toward the ends of the beam, and to loeate the several subordinate members so that the diverging wires of one member will overlap the diverging wires of an adineent member, as shown in Fig. l, by means ol' \\'llltll the' beam is thoroughly bound togetherin variousdirectionsthroughout its body. The diverging wires ol the subordinate members may also be erimped, as shown in the same ligure, whirh gives them a better hold in the cement.
In Figs. 2 and It, the subordinate members are spat-ed apart so that the diverging wires will not overlap, and the ends are eurved to form the books t which serve to engage in the eement in Fi =1 and separate. wires are used on opposite sides ol the main bar. the same being twisted together below and above the main bar, and the individual wires are separated uito close to the upper side of the main bar, instead ol' at a point some distance above the same as shown in the other ligures. ln this ligure, the free ends ol' the diverging wires are bent square to l'orm ltoolts which engage in the rement.
What. I claim as my invention, and desire to serure by Letters Patent, is-
l. A metallie reinloreement for a eonorete floor beam eomprising a main member, and a. series of separatisubordinate members lo-- ceted at intervals apart and composed of e plurality of wires Wrapped around the main member and twisted-together in a single cable on the upper side thereof and thence separated and extended divergently as tension members diagonally upward through each quadrant of a plane perpendicular to the cable.
2. A metallic reinforcement for a concrete floor beam comprising a main member, and e series of separate subordinate members located at intervals apart and composed of plurality of wires Wrapped around the main member and twisted together as a single ceble on the upper side thereof and thence separated and extended divergently as tension members diagonally upward through each quadrant of a plane perpendicular to the ca ble, the individual Wires of one'subordinete member overlapping the Wires ofthe adjacent subordinate members.
3. A metallic reinforcement for a concrete floor beam comprising a main member, and a series of separate subordinate members located at intervals apart and com osed of s 25 plurality of Wires Wrapped sroun the main member and twisted together in a single cable on the upper side thereof and thence separated and extended divergently es tension members diagonally upward through each 30 quadrant of a plane perpendicular to the cable, the divergent wires being orirnped.
