DISPLAY-RACK.
Specification of Letters y'atent.
Patented Dec. 1;
Application filed April 7, 1908. Serial No. 425,751.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CLARENCE BEALL, a citizen of the United States of America, re siding at Pittsburg, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsy Vania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Display-Racks, of which the following is a specification, reference beinghad therein to the accompanying drawing. p
This invention relates to a display rack, particularly designed for salesmen of small commodities, such as confectionery.
The primary object of my invention is to provide a novel folding rack in a manner as hereinafter set forth for a large display of confectionery, the rack in a folded position occupying a comparatively small space in a grip or case provided therefor.
A further object of my invention isto provide a simple, inexpensive and adjustable rack that can be displayed upon a table or suspended from a suitable support, whereby the confectionery carried thereby can be easily observed.
A still further object of this invention is to provide a novel folding rack that will not injure the articles carried thereby, while the rack is being folded or carried within a suitable casing.
With the above and other objec'ts'in view which will readily appear as the invention is better understood, the same consists in the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts to be presently described and then specifically pointed out in the appended claim.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of an. adjustable rack in a folded position, and, Fig. 2 is an end elevation of the same partly broken away and partly in section. c
Referring to the drawings in detail, 1 designates a plurality of platforms of equal size, each platform at the ends thereof being provided with depending slotted brackets 6 to which are adjustably connected through the medium of set screws 8, yokes 7, these latter projecting from the upper face of the lower H platforms.
The ends of the platforms are successively connected together by diagonally disposed sectional connecting members,
each member being formed of two sections, the sections of each member being indicated by the reference characters 9, 10, the sec tion 9"being pivoted to the upper platform and the section 10 to the lower platform. The sections 9 and 10 are adjustably connected together by set screws 11. The slotted brackets 6 which depend from the lowermost platform provide supports therefor.
The adjustable rack permits of articles of various sizes being mounted upon the plat- I form and from the construction of the rack,
it is evident that a form of rack is a device which provides a novel arrangement by which sample trays can be easily handled and carried. The platforms preferably are constructed of light and durable wood while the brackets, yokes and members are made of metal.
It is apparent that I'have devised-a novel arrangement by which sample trays can be easily handled and carried. The platforms thereof'are constructed of light and durable wood, while the bars and supports are made of metal. I
I do not care to confine myself to the manner of securing articles to the platform, and such structural changes as are permissible by the appended claim can be resorted to without departing from the spiritof the inven tion.
. Having now described my invention what I claim as new, is
A rack of the type described comprising a plurality of platforms, a plurality of slotted bracketsnlepending. from the lower face of each platform, yokes extending from the upper face of the platforms with the exception of the top platform, means for adjustably connecting the yokes to the slotted brackets, diagonally dis osed connecting members pivotally attac ed to the-ends of the plat I forms and connecting the platforms to gether, andmeans for adjustably connecting the sections of the members together.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
' CLARENCE BEALL.
' Witnesses:
